Reunification Cathedral

This is an Orthodox cathedral that was initially built in 1922 and was the place where the coronation procession of King Ferdinand I and Queen Marie took place.

It has a pleasant Romanian architecture and it can be visited throughout the year, outside of mass house. There's an inner courtyard and a separate bell tower.

There's no visitation fee and you can take photos inside as well.

The Cathedral of the Coronation in Alba Iulia, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, was built with the support of the Royal House of Romania, according to the plans of the architect Victor Ştefănescu, which was finalized in September 1922, in memory of the first Romanian envoys and patron of the event King Ferdinand.

Orthodox cathedral in the historical centre of Alba Julia offers a very interesting wire onto a well kept garden and architecture, where the outside arched walls, a bit Roman Villa alike, keep at its center safe the cathedral building. The entrance itself is a masterpiece.

It is a great cathedral situated in the middle of Alba Iulia Citadel. It is the symbol of Romanian Orthodoxy and it is also a symbol of the unification of Romania in 1918, this cathedral being completed by King Ferdinand and Queen Marie.
First place to stop, starting from the West gate of the citadel the impressive bell tower of almost 60 meters high hides the nice church and the garden surrounded by porticos.
The church has a sober, wooden iconostasis, and the interior reveals royal decorations and the portraits of King Ferdinand I and Queen Mary of Romania
the whole complex has been build to celebrate a great moment of Romanian history, the coronation of the mentioned royal couple after the WW1 and the fundamental changes that followed it.
It is an iconic historical place because here the Romanian people decided the creation of the Great Romania

Yes it is wonderful. Want to make it better add a playground for children! Swings, slides and things too do so kids can socialize!! Inexpensive given the joy it brings everyone adults included.

Wonderfull place !

I think it should be One of the most impressive Cathedrals in whole Romania. Its situated in the hearth and entrance of medieval Citadel of Alba Iulia, and basicly its exterior seems TO be yellowish. As much as this Cathedral is important for romanian orthodoxy it is also has played A role during the unification period of Romania. Great sculptures wellcome you in the entrance and beyond gates there is A well designed garden of roses which was also smelling great by the time İ was visiting it. Shortly, Alba Iulia Citadel and Reunification Cathedral İnside it are "must visit" places.

An important historical place for Romania.

Great architecture, lovely town. The way to the place is in construction but when is finished then will be easier to drive in or out.
