Amazing place, a very relaxed atmosphere, very cozy seating outside. Excellent food, professional staff, and good price.

Very good price/quality ratio. Prices are 2/3 x Bucharest prices wich adds to my 5 stars rating. Best 'papanashi' in the country if you can imagine that.

I’m giving a good review even tho we didn’t even get to eat. Just because was not the restaurant’s fault. We drove 300km to come to the restaurant but they didn’t let us in the telecondola. We were about 15 people in an hour trying to get up and nothing. It’s a shame how much money the restaurant lost today because of those guys from the telecabin.

Great food! And big portions (I recommend sharing it for 2). The price was more than resonable (starter, main course and desert for ~40 RON pp)

It’s simply amazing! The restaurant has lovely seating space outside and some seriously amazing food for very reasonable price when you consider it to be quiet touristy place. You don’t wait long at all for the food and there’s a good selection. The view is amazing as well and the design of the whole place moves you through time. I would definitely visit again when in the area.

If you plan on traveling through Transfăgărășan, you MUST stop here. Food is excellent. Service is great. A view of the mountains and the Poienari castle up on the mountain top will keep you there. You will be tempted to stay one night at the adjacent same name hotel, where you will most likely be treated to bears across the river.

I can only talk about the papanasi since it was the only thing I tried. I wanted to eat one so I checked for places to get a good one. I saw La Cetate as a good place to get it, and it was definitely worthy. Very good papanasi in fact! Recommended

Only been here once when me and my GF were visiting the Vidraru Dam.

We stopped here on a Monday evening so the restaurant was quite empty. We decided to stay on the terrace and I do recommend doing this if the weather is favorable. We weren't too impressed by the interior to be honest. But the terrace was very nice, with wooden chairs and a vintage feeling.

The food and drinks however were very good.
I would definitely recommend trying the Citronnade. It was just perfect. Not too sweet, not to bitter, with a great orangey taste. Also, I would advise you to order some Papanași because they were really good when we had them. They were soft and not too oily, and the cream on it was just right.

As for the actual food, you'll find a variety of romanian specific plates. And I will say that it is quite good considering that this is a restaurant up in the mountains. Just be ready for some huge portions, because neither me or my GF could finish our plates (and believe me, we don't like leaving food behind 😄).

The prices are what might impress you the most because you'll find everything very affordable. At least that's how it was at the time I wrote this review.

In the end, yes I do recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a romanian specific meal at a decent price. You might not be amazed by the food, but try those Papanași and you'll leave the restaurant with a smile on your face.

Very tasty food, the position of the restaurant is excellent as it comes very handy after hiking around the area. Could be even better if they would pay more attention to the cleanliness of the terrace.

Tasty food, soups and more

I was stuck between giving a 4 or a 5 stars review and I chose the latter. That is because this is a good place to eat, with tasty typical Romanian dishes. It wasn't WoW, but still felt better than good.
It is placed right at the beginning of Southern Transfăgărășan, it offers plenty of room for travellers who want to stop for a good meal, both indoors and outdoors, on a terrace. Bare in mind they also have accomodation, but I haven't checked that out. This review is restaurant only. Service is pretty good, fast enough considering the many tables available. Dishes are bountiful in quantity, so make sure you weigh your order unless doggy bags are among your goals. The one downside I see is the parking: most cars stop on the righthand side, blocking almost half the lane. So passing through and finding parking places at lunch time could prove a hastle.

Food was great ,lovely pickles and the funny thing that the girl who served us spilled a bit soup on me,and my friend fall in love with her but he didn't ask her for her number.5 star rating from me definitely will come back with pleasure

The food was very good. Had ciorba de burta, trout and pork (ceafa). The waiter was extremely nice (a young man)
