Stunning view and sophisticated design for a beautiful and distinctive landmark in Porto! The landmark was designed by Gustavo Eiffel, the same French civil engineer who has designed Eiffel Tower. The bridge represents a unique architectural landmark in the port which emphasizes the touristic value and increase the city image potential for visitors and tourists. We have really enjoyed the view at different times during the day and night, however, the sunset view over there is out of this world. Whether you were at the lower or the higher level of the bridge, the view and vibes are just stunning and very beautiful. A great homogeneous design within the whole surroundings contexts, especially the cultural and geographical ones. The bridge increases the connectivity between Porto two parts and motivates more pedestrians.

Pretty bridge with two crossings on it. The top level which is where the tram runs, and the bottom which is more convenient for the riverside pedestrians on both sides of the river.

Pretty during the day, gorgeous at night.

Amazing views from the bridge, it's also a great place to catch the sunset. Liked it so much, we went there twice and walked on the lower and upper levels. You can also watch people jumping off the bridge and you get to enjoy lovely music from buskers.
The bridge itself is lovely.

Such a great walk amazing vibes and of course the view. Sun sets could be great to watch but it was foggy I wasn’t lucky enough to experience it but none the less the river side view is amazing. You can watch both sides of the river, the cable cars and the Serra monastery it’s beautiful.

Lovely city 😍

Deserve to be visited. Nice architecture, people are welcoming and this bridge is awesome.

Impressive by its material, the shape.

You’ve to walk on it and find out about the other part. Many restaurants. 😃

A very beautiful bridge that is worth a visit in Porto. Beautiful during the day and famously gorgeous at night. I recommend visiting and walking the bridge during the day and at night. There is a nice view of the surroundings of Porto and Gaya from the bridge.

Great views both day and night. It’s a lot less crowded at night even though the view is equally impressive, but it still wasn’t too busy around noon. Walking along the top and the bottom levels is a must. You can also view the Luís I from the other bridges.

The Louis 1st bridge, crosses the Douro river, joining Ribeira to Gaia & the PORT lodges / caves.
There is an upper level you can cross, which you share with the Metro (very windy) or a lower level, which you share with cars. The views of the Douro are superb.
The brige was designed & inspired by a colleague of Eiffel, so naturally, it is a metal caged structur.
Very impressive!

A must see if you visit the city of Porto. This old bridge offers you a Fantastic view of this city full of history and amazing buildings. The bridge is free to visit, so no excuse not to go there. If you are afraid of heights there is also the possibility to go downstairs and take the lower bridge crossing. Of course the upper one gives you the best view of the city.

The bridge itself is a beautiful structure. You can get great views of Porto and the Ribeira as well as the sunset from here. The tram also goes over here as well. Well worth a visit.

This is another great piece of architecture in Porto and a definitive must-see and do. If you want to cross the river Douro, then this is a great way to do so. Be it on the lower level or on the top level.

For the amazing city views of course you should head to the top. There are some cable-cars passing the bridge. But not very frequently, so there's a lot of space, even though full with visitors. There's always a gap to be found to take in the views or to take some pics.

At its construction, its 172 metres span was the longest of its type in the world. The construction was to be administered by Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel. It was inaugurated on October 31st, 1886.

There are many reasons to come to this bridge. The city views, the river Douro views. Or for the bridge itself and its stunning architecture and history.

Amazing landmark in the middle of Porto - a must do. You can walk across to Gaia on either the lower level or up above with the best views over both sides of the river.
Places to have food and sights are on both sides of the bridge and you can enjoy the best sunsets.
Not for you if you don't like crowds 😉

This is one of the best places to go while visiting Porto. It gives amazing views over the river and the city. It has 2 levels where you can cross it, i would recommend you to try both upper and lower levels because they are different experiences. Try to be there at sunset time because the view is magical. I would return for sure.

A spectacular breathtaking view of Porto. Highly recommend to visit. You can cross the bridge by walking or taking cable car ride across the river.

A visit to porto is not complete without crossing this amazing bridge both ways ,
we crossed the top to get to the other side, than after a lovely lunch and tastings at the market, we crossed along the bottom, all and all quite easy walking, a fun day out.

Fabulous walking bridge with 2 levels. Incredible views of Porto from the top down the river. The top has rails for the tram so pay attention.
The lower level allows cars to cross. Spectacular bridge. Must see when in Porto. At the far end is the Morro garden

Beautiful bridge connecting both river sides and providing beautiful views over Douro river and the river banks.

You can take a tram over this bridge too but that is not necessary as one way will take you 15-20 minutes if you stop a lot to take pictures.

Taking a walk over this bridge and the views of it is a must do in Porto!

Cross this bridge on foot from Porto to Gaia, it is a short walk. When you get there take the gondola down to gaia, it costs $7.50 one way or $10 both ways. It is beautiful!!

It takes sometime to walk across to the other side but the view is beautiful. Watch out for the train as you will be walking on its track.

From this bridge, you'll have an absolutely stunning view. I'd particularly recommend going there for the sunset (or sunrise if you're an early bird). Especially with a clear sky, it's magical :)
