Castle of Castelo de Vide

Truly captivating little hilltown complete with castle, fountains and old Jewish Quarter. Lots of well-marked walks in and around town. Maps (rather poor) available at the tourist office next to Matriz Santa Maria da Devesa Church.

A lovely little town full of interesting history. The Jewish museum was a surprise, nicely done. The pointy eared dog is certainly a lively character, perfectly harmless of course.

Castel do vide is a nice town in Portugal with a butiful castle in top of a hill and charming medieval village. A museum in the synagogue tells the story of an interesting Jewish community that lives in the past in the town.

Beautiful pitoresque village. A lot to do and see

Amazing views, worth the trip. It's not difficult to get there although the climb can be a bit steep sometimes. There are some places where you really must be careful if traveling with little children, especially if they are the restless kind

The town of Castelo de Vide is unforgettable. Lots of trendy young adults give it a lovely energy and although we did not find a vegan restaurant, there are many restaurants, boutique shops and cafes in the main square. Its an exhilarating walk up through the old medieval town (with many fabulous renovations) within the castle walls, and the historic Jewish quarter, past gorgeous gardens - rose vines dripping over front doorways, ancient chapels, the ubiquitous cats framed in old stone entrances, village elders taking in the sun, loquat, olive and lemon trees, to reach the top of the castle and be rewarded with breathtaking views that will capture both your imagination and your heart. Well worth a visit and to make time to explore other sorrounding look out points.

An awesome place where houses have been built embedded into the old castle structure. Don't dare to take the car to the top. Even it is allowed most likely you with get it stuck in the narrow streets. A must see place likely taken from a story book

Good place amazing views. Marvao is more spectacular if you are able to travel a short distance.

Nice alive city, old fashioned streets going up and down, with local people and their pot plants everywhere. Charming village.

Better than the castle, is the small village inside. Superb views to Castelo de Vide.
