Atelier do Doce

Great find off the beaten path. Seemingly in the middle of no where, this is a factory supplying restaurants and cafes. They have a store front and sitting area to buy pastries there for consumption or take away. So much to choose from, the Berlin Balls stuffed with strawberry or lemon cream were fantastic. Very reasonable pricing, and it looks like they do custom cake orders as well.

Great pastry, and an awesome café with comfortable indoor furniture and an excellent staff, very polite and very knowledgeable of their products.

It is located about 16 kms from Caldas heading towards Alcobaça. They have got a wide variety of cakes and pastries. Some of the best that I have tried in this region. We ordered some sandwiches as well which were were freshly prepared and were rather scrumptious. The service is extremely polite and efficient. They are open till 18:30. The place is well appointed with both indoor as well as outdoor seating. Check this place out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing bakery.

This is a bakery, not a cafe. If you want to eat inside there are tables and chairs and a coffee machine.. but people, please remember this is a real working bakery, the cakes and pastries are amazing, please remember this when you review this as a bakery not down grade it because it is not a cafe.

I have seen too many reviews of less than 5 stars all from people who have rated it as if it is a restaurant or cafe, I think these are unrealistic and unfair reviews.

My visit there was fantastic. Service is excellent, with knowledgeable, friendly staff and the product on sale is outstanding.

THE BEST place for bolas de berlin in more than 10 different flavours all magnificent and almost half the price of what you pay for them on the beach. Great new coffee shop with outdoor seating area with a magnitude view of the hills.

Now has a café with outdoor decking offering great views of the surrounding countryside. Same huge selection of products. Well worth a visit.
Speaking to a local Portuguese lady she highly recommends the Atelier de Doce pão de ló. Not tried yet but will do..

Oh my God are these pastries heavenly! Charming, helpful staff and lovely location. My one suggestion is to order at least twice as many sweets as you normally would. They have a way of disappearing fast! The little custard pies are absolutely divine.
