Praia de São Martinho do Porto

Our favourite beach on the silver Coast, safe and relaxing for families as the shallow, calm waves lap gently onto the flat beach. Great for babies and teenagers alike. Shops, cafes dotted along the promenade.

At the Southern end are sand dunes walks. If there is a breeze, it's warm and not too strong unlike Nazare where we were whipped by wind and the sand on one particular day.

Great sunsets too as it faces West of course.

The beach is beautiful, calm water and many activities. What won me were the tents available for renting for a fair price, we could spend the whole day. The region has a good amount of restaurants, bars and toilets. Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful bay area and beach sheltered from the Atlantic. Not overdeveloped beachfront área and a nice getaway place to visit north of Lisbon.

Lovely place to take a deep breath and relax!... Beautiful scenery for nature lovers: amazing sunset on Sao Martinho's Bay framed by the surrounding mountains. Lots of places with a view to choose from to have a meal, an ice-cream or a drink. On my route whenever I go to Portugal.

Beautiful calm beach. Water is warmer than in the open ocean. There aren't waves also

Very calm, water was much more warmer than usual in Portugal! I liked a lot! For sure I will be back. Parking is hard to find because is a small village and its normal! however you can find parking if you go earlier!

What a stunning beach! My children played on the ginormous sand dunes for hours. Plenty of parking for our motorhome although this was in February. Must get busy during the summer!

São Martinho do Porto Beach is a wonderful bay with relatively calm waters, great for kids, not for water sports beside paddling!

I love this beach, horseshoe inlet, fantastic for little tykes too and a great place for swimming.

Beautiful seaside town, lots of nice shops to browse through aswell as some lovely cafes to eat at. Highly recommend the small cafe away from the main strip near the camp site . Great food at a great price. Beach is lovely and clean , safe for kids with near no current inside the bay.

Fabulous enclosed beach and promenade. Lovely restaurants. Great place to walk.

Nice beach experience and safe for the whole family. Protected bay. Lots of space to spread out. Great restaurants everywhere. Worth a visit!

Excellent beach for families with young children, both free and serviced beach options available, the sand is fine and clean, the water is relatively shallow and no big waves. One service beach makes available for a fee an aqua playground in the bay.
The village of Sao Martino do Porto is located on the north side of the beach with plenty of options catering beach goers.
The area is well serviced by public transport and the train station is only few hundred meters from the beach. Parking is available, although street parking may get scarce on summer days and paid parking (4 Euro for the day) may be the only option available to park close to the village side of the beach. The south side of the bay has much more solitary beach atmosphere for the ones who prefer to stay away from crowds. At rthe southern tip of the bay a steep sand dune offers some downhill thrills.

Amazing beach, one of my favorite. Family friendly because there is no waves and have some activities for the children or that for parents and children to do together. There is plenty of sand to enjoy. Can be windy some times so if you're taking a parasol make sure is a good one that can handle it. Plenty of restaurants, bars and shops to enjoy nearby.

Just passed quickly to show the kids this beautiful beach. We were driving from Porto to Lisbon and had a stop here. I imagine this are in the summer must be awesome, since I came in February and found out astonishing.
