The Wine Box

Excellent meal and lovely wine. The calemares and sardines were lovely as starters. Then we had the sausage stew and steak as mains. Both very nice. My steak was cooked perfectly. The waiting staff were helpful and polite. I don't know whether I am being a ludite, but I do like the feel of a proper menu in my hands, rather than an ipad. The ipad had pictures of the food. It felt a bit fast food ish. I have always avoided restaurants that have pictures of their food outside, and this just felt like a step on the way. However, this is just me, and everything else was perfect.

Everything we ordered was delicious, especially dessert! Lovely chilled setting, waiter was fantastic. Was a recommend spot by a friend and the PERFECT spot to start pur holiday. Even given a complimentary glass of port wine due to service being a bit slow as was busy. We didn't mind but it was a lovely touch!

When in the afternoon in Porto. We were a bit hungry and ready to taste some Douro wine. We visited this place. Cosy interior FULL of wine. And a variety of choice in finger foods and tapas. We chose an Espumante Brute frome the Douro and an assortiment of meat and cheese.

Amazing place, great blues music, incredible wine. And perfect service. Oh, forgot to mention the wine :D They have a lot of it. Just trust the sommelier and everything will be perfect!

If you are looking for a local wine experience, here is the place. Stuff is well educated about the list of choices that the restaurant has; when we made some questions about the wines he was ready to explain and even let us taste different options

Dont let the stars fool you, the service is amazing. the best smiley service you will find anywhere in the world. Ports were tasty! If you going for 2 glasses you might as well get the bottle! The food was also pretty good. You will have to experience it for yourself. It helps when other places services are not up to standards. Porto is full of tourists, do people really care ??? The staff at wine box did!

Very nice non Portuguese resto in Porto, 5 minutes away from the port. Nice staff nice food good portion. Ordered slightly too much but it helped bringing us energy to climb up the slope to the Se do Porto

Fantastic food, we ordered 7 dishes for a family of 3, enjoyed every single one of them, no leftovers! Great selection of wines, it was the best porto wine experience we could have. Our waiter Alexandra were super attentive and took good care of us, highly recommended place!

Really enjoyed two visits here on a recent trip to Porto with my daughter. First visit was brief for a glass of wine, we returned for food and a port tasting the next day. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good vibe for wine and port lovers.

Absolutely amazing service from all the staff members that served us, food was breathtaking and the atmosphere was superb. Cannot wait to visit again.

Really nice place, with good food and large selection of wines. Staff is kind and welcoming and there's a nice cozy atmosphere. We liked it so much that we went there for 2 days in a row. Strongly recommended!

We had lunch on Good Friday at 1pm. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food really good.
The shrimps and the bread were our favorite. Our son (4yrs) enjoyed the codfish balls with aioli.

Great for a bite and wine. The woman working was incredibly knowledgeable about all the wines - this is a great way to try several if you’re not familiar with Portuguese wines. And the cheese was amazing!! It was the perfect stop!

I unfortunately can’t say if the food was good since Ive only ever been here to try the wines, but it sure did smell very good. The staff were very kind and attentive and they explained me the perks of each kind of wine. I bought a ruby bottle 2 years ago and this time bought a white Lagrima, he offered us ti try some wines and they were all great per usual. Try and call for a reservation beforehand if you are looking to eat here!

I would recommend making a reservation if you plan on visiting The Wine Box since they can get very busy. A little touristy since it’s so close to the river walk but great selection of wine and the staff is very knowledgeable. We liked it so much we came here twice during our stay in Porto.
