Not many words in English, but a desire to make it work despite our own shortcomings in other languages.
Super sweet proprietor, very tasty pork cheeks etc.
We got a taster plate with different cakes for dessert.
Will visit again.

Amazing food. Service with a smile. Locally sourced wines, olive oil and meats. If you want traditional Portuguese dining experience, this is the place. All done with a smile on their face.

The family that runs the restaurant has several decades of cuisine experience.
The husband in the room and wife cooking deliver great and traditional taste. They are gate keepers of traditional flavours of the region, not only the raw material (great produce and local source meat).

They have the traditional dishes and game options.
You can ask for wine recommendations and be quite happy with it, a great mix of food and wine.
Do feel free to ask help about the village and its history. He has been helping a lot of Americans searching for their family normally Jewish roots in Castelo de Vide, even helping them to enter the century old homes of their relatives by speaking to the current owners.

The entrance is a bit hidden in a side street but you sure want to find it.

The walls are covered with wine bottles and cartoons making fun of the names of Portuguese dishes. Very attentive young waiters will take your order and counsel you. And you will eat local delicacies. The kick? You can sample the dishes. It is possible to order four samples instead of two full meals to try out much more. And that you should, it is very much worth it

Pro Tipp: choose only three sample dishes and let the fourth one be a sample plate of local cheeses and meats.

After several recommendations, The Avenger moved us to perhaps the best restaurant the three of us have been in 2023, after a first attempt to get a dinner at 8pm, they were booked out and we came home to later come back at 9am, since of course they wanted to receive the Best in the World and give him the best table.

They received us in the waiting couch, where in a poetry motion they dictated the menu. Your God basically picked everyone's dishes, starters, soup, and dessert, since he wanted everything to be Perfect, what he called the Gift Of the Avenger!

The sound of silence was amazing, the ventilation system superb, it didn't seem to be winter outside, and the smell of food, incredible, The GOAT felt home, in the Mount Olimp.

He was so excited, with a baby's smile while listening to the history of the black Iberian pig, and his accurate way of eating acorn. Each dish came even better than the previous one, making Your God kaiting everything and everywhere, even his Reguengo was kissed by himself.

The cherry on top, was when your Divorcee mentioned his former wife "she never cooked like this, we should teach every women and men how to have the basic cooking skills as they have in Confraria, Im eating in heaven, I'll move here and populate this place"

I guess he can keep thinking of happy ways to die, and after this phenomenal meal and special attention, we can all die to keep your God shining like a diamond he is

Have been dining at A Confrária for years - look for it on the right side in the tiny Rua de Santa Maria do Baixo a few steps in from the church plaza. The food is simple, typical Alentejano fare, served with charm and grace. It’s clear that they want you to be happy with your meal, the service is so friendly and careful. Not to be missed.

Always a truly lovely experience eating in Confraria. The gaspacho is one of a kind and wonderfully fresh in a hot summer day. Hard to recommend one dish as everything is usually incredible and the staff always lovely! Will return every time I'm in Castelo de Vide

Until now the best food and service we had during our 10 days stay in Portugal, very friendly young waitress, explaining the menu with patience, the stifado was really delicious, housewine great, nice atmosphere.

We feel lucky to have found this place! They serve a mean Bacalao and of all the friendly service we've had in Portugal, they were among the kindest! Hidden away, it's a quiet spot. They have outdoor seating on the back side of the restaurant.

Beautiful place, beautiful wine (mostly local), beautiful food and beautiful friendly staff!
We had a fantastic time at the cosy restaurant! The good is very typical and the space is a rarity in Portugal, due to the fact that is a small space, you can actually have a an agreeable conversation with your family and friends, without losing your voice and getting def by the background noise!
If you visit the north of Alentejo, Castelo de Vide, Marvão or Nisa, this is a place to go, unmissable! Thank you very much indeed for everything!

A wonderful little restaurant serving local and regional dishes. The restaurant uses local produce including a delious local olive oil. There are local wines available by the glass and a delicious local cherry liquor. Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating especially with our young chikdren. Great value.

Fantastic food. The garlic soup and rabbit w/kidney beans were superb.

One of the best place in portugal i have ever been. Quite backyard terrace, great friendly service, very high level of food quality and we paied way less than expected with Wine and coffe. I hope i will go back in the future. Thank you :)

Loved the place and the food. The restaurant host was very friendly and nice. They do degustation plates which gives you the opportunity to taste a bit of everything. Really nice lunch and dinner experience.
