Located on the outskirts of sahiwal this hidden gem is worth a visit.

Showcase the advancement in the context of history of a civilisation on the Indus River 6000 years ago!

A rare gem not to be missed. More overwhelming than the historical site itself across the road.

It's a good place to know our civilization and culture. It shows how rich we are, how old we are at this place. Life was very civilised even 5000 years ago.

I visited this place in 2017, and it was truly remarkable. It offered an authentic glimpse into the past, allowing me to experience how people lived thousands of years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, even though I arrived late and it was quite quiet. I would highly recommend going earlier in the day to fully explore the museum and tour the fascinating ruins of the ancient past.

It was a great experience. I was particularly amazed by the innovations that were present at that time especially the wheel and jewellery. Amazing!

The site of the ancient city contains the ruins of a Bronze Age fortified city, which was part of the Harappan civilisation centred in Sindh and the Punjab, and then the Cemetery H culture.[3] The city is believed to have had as many as 23,500 residents and occupied about 150 hectares (370 acres) with clay brick houses at its greatest extent during the Mature Harappan phase (2600 BC – 1900 BC), which is considered large for its time.[4][5] Per archaeological convention of naming a previously unknown civilisation by its first excavated site, the Indus Valley Civilisation is also called the Harappan Civilisation.

The Indus River Valley Civilization, also known as Harappan civilization, developed the first accurate system of standardized weights and measures, some as accurate as to 1.6 mm. Harappans created sculpture, seals, pottery, and jewelry from materials, such as terracotta, metal, and stone.

Harapa is situated 24 kilometers from Sahiwal. It is oldest Archeological site in Pakistan about of 2500 bc.
Here is a Museum where a lot of things used by Harapian people used are kept.
City is well designed with covered draining system. Brickes are used for construction of walls.

I visited on thursday while coming from Lahore to Bahawalpur. I heard and wished to visit so many times while driving on the road, but this time, I finally decided to visit this place. I reached at 8 Am , no person was available to serve , but I am thankful for the person who allow me to enter and visit the Khandrats...
Place is so amazing and you feel like those people who lived here were more civilized and well aware of technology and town planning.
Then after 30 minutes, officials reached and they open meusum for me..
I would recommend you people to visit atleast once in your life, especially who wants to know about history and civilizations.

Harappa Musuem n ruins are located about 6 kms from National Highway; 20-25 minutes drive from Sahiwal. This is one of old est archeological sites of Indus civilization; other being Mohan jo Daro, Mehrgarh etc..
This ruined city said to have flourished around 2000-2500 BC on the bank of Indus River. Digging of the site started in 1921 till 1925. The museum was constructed one year later in 1926 which houses many historical artifacts like jewellery, toys, clay utensils, stone made knifes, skeleton of one male n one female.
Quite a serene and a good place for students, families n all those who having interest in archeology.
