A very well maintained location. The people are really doing their best to develop and maintain the ruins here. There is also a small museum. A very clean canteen with bathrooms as well. There are small separate rooms that visitors can rent if they are there for longer visit. A beautiful water body awaits at the other end of the place. Best time to visit is during winters/ totally not recommended for hot summer and blazing sun.

Banbhore, also known as Bhambore or Bhambor, is an ancient archaeological site located in Sindh, Pakistan.

It is considered to be one of the earliest known urban centers in South Asia, dating back to around the 1st century BCE.

Banbhore's history spans various periods, including its role as a major port city during the Sindh region's prominence in trade and commerce.

The site contains the remains of a fortified city with structures such as residential areas, streets, warehouses, and a mosque.

Archaeological findings suggest a blend of local and foreign cultural influences, reflecting its importance as a trading hub connecting the Indian Ocean to inland regions.

Banbhore's strategic location along the Indus River made it a center of trade and cultural exchange. Over time, it experienced changes in rulers and civilizations, including the Hindu, Buddhist, and Islamic periods.

The city's decline in the 10th century is thought to have been caused by shifts in river courses and the rise of other centers of trade.

Today, Banbhore is a significant archaeological site that provides insights into the early urbanization and historical development of the Indian subcontinent.
At all , nice place to be visited in Sindh 💚.

Bhanbhore is an ancient city dating back to the 1st century BC. Around the 13th century Bhanbhore was abandoned due to change in course of the River Indus. Probably flooded too, it got lost under mounds of sand and soil for several hundred years. The excavation is well maintained, and a lot of ornaments are housed in the museum. There is also a space outside which was believed to be the first ever mosque in South Asia. Good place to explore

Bhambhore is a city dating to the 1st century BCE located in the vicinity of Dhabeji. Approx 50 KMs away from Karachi. It dates back to the Scytho-Parthian era and was later controlled by Muslims from the 8th to the 13th century, after which it was abandoned. Remains of one of the earliest known mosques in the region dating back to 727 AD are still preserved in the city. In 2004, Department of Archaeology and Museums Pakistan submitted the site for UNESCO world heritage site. While the old museum turned into modern with updated facilitues if resthouses, canteen and pavalion by the local government. Entrance to the Bhambore museum is just rupees 20 for locals while rupees 300 for foreigners.

A proud moment for me to visit that place I always dreamed to visit. I was blessed to offer my Zuhar namaz in the Masjid which was build by Mhd Bin Qasim Army. Yes I prayed for Pakistan. Here are some clicks of the First Grand(Jamme)Mosque bulit in the area by Muhammad Bin Qasim during 8th Century. Jumma prayers were offered here and still the remaining structure shows that it was beautifully and well planned constructed mosque.Bhanbhore
Excavations at Bhanbhore began in 1958, and after regular research, traces of settlements of three different periods have been found. The earliest inhabitants were of Sethuparthi descent, dating from the first century BC to the second century BC. People of Hindu and Buddhist religions from 2nd century AD to 8th century AD, while Muslims came from 8th century AD to 13th century AD after which the river Indus changed its course and lost its importance and the whole city became desolate. Houses collapsed and gradually became a huge pile of rubble.

Banbhore is an historic place, its an ancient city within fort. There is also a museum where different archaic foods and model are being displayed. The most attractive thing on the museum is the stone model of whole fort. It also has models of attack strategy by Muhammad bin qasim, when he came to sindh for first time. Museum closes around 6 pm.

Bhanbhore is an early Islamic Archaeological Site which has a sequence from 1st century BC to 13th Century AD. Whilst its earlier phases are waterlogged, the surface remains of the site represent the best preserved early Islamic urban form in South Asia. It is also the region's best preserved medieval port.

The port's plan consists of five main zones. The most impressive zone is a 10 m high mound which stands on the shore of the creek itself. Measuring 610 m by 305 m, the mound is delineated by a 3 m wide limestone fortification wall with 46 rounded bastions and 3 gates. The latter appears to be connected to a grid iron arrangement of streets. An interior wall divides the mound into western and eastern sectors, with the floor plans of major structures preserved on the surface of the latter half. These largest structures have been identified as a mosque, an administrative quarter and a serai or inn.
