Mang Ed Bakareta House

For me the saltiness of their bakareta is just right, and it mellows down once u add calamansi to it, amplifying its taste a bit more. Also love their fried ipusan whose brine taste is just right. It reminds me of the tasty fried tawilis in Tagaytay. I find it cheaper and way cleaner looking than its more famous neighbor resto known for their bulalo.

I've always wanted to go here because I love beef caldereta, but my husband would always take me to Good Taste. Eventually, he yielded to my request. We just walked going here because we noticed already the limited parking in front of the building. The woman said that was bakareta but we were served is not beef caldereta, but more of adobo (we did not taste tomato sauce, but soy sauce?).. but it was good! the meat was tender, the sauce was tasty, sarap sa rice! P190/order, but the serving was good for 2 to 3 pax. We also had papaitan and sinampalukang kambing (P250/order for all their goat menu). They were good too! The sinampalukan was not too sour, but we liked it. Malaman naman yung kambing, unlike the cheaper ones we had in other carinderias (na halos puro buto). They have the usual toyo, suka, sili, free soup (bulalo soup, my bowl was tasty at may konting litid). The place is like big, clean, carinderia style, but it is located in a building, so you won't get caught eating in a turo-turo (nothing wrong with it, but I appreciate that the table is not near the road). They have service water, but you can buy mineral water for P25. Desserts are those small refrigerator cakes of different flavors, at P40 each. Brewed coffee at P60. I really like it here, recommended for those who are sawa na sa Chinese, Korean, Japanese food proliferating in Baguio. We went there at 10am, so not much people yet, but people started coming in at around 11am. Staffs are nice and very attentive. Will definitely go back!❤

Honestly, this is my favourite meal in Baguio. Simple and straightforward.

I got their Tinuho(grilled liempo) and Bakareta.

Bakareta - a light beef caldereta type flavor but the umami of that fork tender beef that seemed to be stewed for a long time is simply divine over steamy rice. It gets tough though if your not fast enough because of the cold weather.

Tinuho - very lighly seasoned grilled pork liempo served with the dinuguan sauce. Skeptic of the sauce at first because a lot of restaurants has been combining grilled or fried pork with dinuguan. To my surprise, on first tasting the sauce, you get the identifiable Dinuguan flavor however, immediately it is followed by what seems to be flavors on what you find in a lechon sauce. Just think of the usual lechon sauce but instead of sweetness, it's the flavor of the dugo.

Also got served with a beef broth that had small chunks of melty bone marrow fat.

Accesible stop over. Convenient and its 24/7 depends on the dates where it varies. Must try authentic food they serve.

There were no fish viand available as the market person did not come to work. The food was good although it grew cold easily.

If you dine here, the Bakareta is a must have. Tender and flavourful.

Bakareta and Bolalu were great will definitely come back.

A bit pricey, but good food and its just steps in a main road

Superb Filipino cuisine and tasteful 'lutong bahay'. Great for lunch and dinner when you're visiting Baguio. Also a value for money eatery.

Reasonably priced good food Turo-turo style. The bulalo is not consistent however as there were times the meat is still tough & sometimes very well done that it easily falls off the bone. Parking is available by the way.

If you visit the place do try "BAKARETA". It's their specialty. 1 serve is good for 1 to 2 persons. Soup is very good. Its not your typical knorr cubes or sinigang mix.

The taste of Bakareta is not what you expected. Some says it's Calderetang Baka, pero nagkakamali po kayo. Taste it to confirm. ♥
