PAGASA-DOST Weather Radar Station

A good vantage point that allows a breathtaking view of the Philippine Sea/Pacific Ocean to the east and Leyte Gulf to the west.

If you're lucky the engineer might just allow you to go up where all their machines run! :))

It is the most advanced weather updating infrastructure in Guiuan.

Located atop a seaside hill approx. 60 above sea level in Barangay Sapao, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, Philippines, the DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station is popular among locals for its Doppler Radar Tower (right), its most conspicuous structure which gave the station its local nickname "Radar". The weather station, operating under the Philippine state weather agency PAGASA, also has a scenic view of the Philippine Sea (Pacific Ocean) and of the adjacent localities in Guiuan.

The DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station was built and renovated with the aid of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and it once suffered heavy damage due to Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) back in November 2013.

Careful lang sa pagpunta dito dahil sobrang tarik ng daan paakyat. Di na nga kinaya nung tricycle na nasakyan namin (with mga Kuya na nameet ko). Pag akyat namin nakita ko ung parang kambing (di ko alam ung name mismo nung hayop baka alam nio comment nio na lang din hahaha) careful lang din kasi nung nalapit ako parang iaattack nya din ako buti nalayo ako agad. Nung paalis na kami biglang umulan pero ok lang worth it naman ung pag alis namin kasi pinandungan nya ko (hahahah eme)

Everytime we went to Sulangan we always saw these giant globe tower. We are so curious so when we got near it we saw that it was Pagasa's weather Post. Near it is a nice beach resort.
