Parola

Parola is Spanish, as well the Tagalized form, of the English word: Lighthouse. This edifice is currently decommisioned and no one operates it now. Many years ago, it used to be a guide for marine vessels and fishing boats to avoid beaching themselves to the beach. It is a very high building and has dozens of steps to reach the top. As far as I know, it is prohibited to climb the lighthouse or parola because there are no safety handrails and it could get very windy at the top. But I was able to reach the top and the view was spectacular! You can see the beauty of Agno, Pangasinan and its natural environment. You will enjoy the tall coconut trees and refreshing green mountains. You will also be amazed with the joining of the river and the ocean. It is truly an amazing sight! But even if you can not get to the top, seeing the iconic landmark is sufficient. The surrounding places is also a good spot for swimming, relaxing, and picnic with family or friends. Parola, Rena Point. Philippine lighthouses are often called parolas (adaptation of the Spanish word farola. The lighthouse is located on the north side of the Mabini River entrance northwest of Agno. It has a square concrete tower, with an external concrete stairway winding around the tower, similar the one at Lucap. The lighthouse, reached on foot from Sabangan beach, along rocky ascent of trail through woodland open site, where tower can be climbed.
