San Jose the Husband of Mary Parish

After 10 years in the making, the new parish church of san jose was blessed last 2019. Marvel at new structure and at the spanish retablo and the sanctuary. Pray and communion with God. God place for wedding and big celebrations.

San Jose church also houses, Our Lady of Covadonga, which is believed to be miraculous by the locals.

Great, Taize Prayer which was facilitated by the youth and their adviser. It was an encounter of the soul. We pray for Ukraine for peace.

The church is big and the environment inside is good just the interior needs a bit of management.. parking space is limited.

Wide, And well ventilated church.

Catholic church with a school for elementary and high school students. Provides ample parking for church goers and school visitors.

Relatively newly built church. Replaced the old church made of wood. Big & spacious inside. The loft and the closely spaced middle pillars seem to make it look smaller and confined tho. The arrangement of the pillars plays with your sense of symmetry in a weird way if viewing from the side pews. Parking is spacious, both at the front & side of the church making it ideal for tourists who have their own vehicles.

I feel at peace everytime I attend the holy mass here.

I love that it's very spacious cuz then you could actually focus on the pastor's homily and I really appreciate the fact that the parking space is for everyone and not just those who are to go to church ❤

The first church in the city of Iloilo was built by the Jesuits around 1607 to serve the needs of the military stationed in Punta, as Iloilo was then called. However, on 29 April 1617, the Augustinians established San Jose, a house of the order.

During World War II, the church was saved from being bombed by the Americans after they received information that Japanese were not holed in the church as they were previously informed. Between 1980-82 the church was renovated, a new marble floor was laid, under the direction of poet-writer, Fr. Gilbert Centina. San Jose is one of the few parish in the Philippines still under the Augustinians.

The church interior has an arcade of Corinthian columns supporting a faux barrel vault over the nave and groin vaults over the aisle. The main altar has some Gothic touches. A precious treasure of the church is an image of the Nuestra Senora del Rosario discovered by Diego Quinnes during the Dutch siege of Iloilo on 29 September 1614.

A church where I was baptized when I was a baby. A lot of people I have known but for now they are gone. Thats why having Ninangs and Ninongs is useless.

One of the biggest churches I have ever visited. Tho, the church is under construction pa. Schedules are 7:30am, 9:00am, and 5:00PM.

its a newly constructed church and still not done but its spacious and ready for baptism and other activities.

The new church may not be as amazing as the old churches of the lowlands. Still, it is an eye-opening place of worship
