There is an exhibition going on:
Rhythm and Hues
By Abe Orobia
A 1968 batch reunion of three Thomasian artists from Painting and Advertising majors namely Amor Lamarroza, Anita Del Rosario, and Caesario. This trio exhibition of Lamarroza, Del Rosario, and Caesario is a compendium of art styles in their years of existence in the art scene.
Amor Lamarroza is from locos Sur who before undertaking a fine arts course found a muse in the natural formations of river Chico and Amburayan surrounding his hometown. He is a well-known artist who is inspired by the beauty of nature and understands the importance of ecology which can be summed up by his predominant works depicting surreal-like landscapes. The multi-colored-rocks, thick planar trees, and bodies of water with distant hills and mountains mostly enveloped by translucent mists might be merely interpreted as simply pastoral scenes. It can be referred to as a recollection of his childhood's self-created wonderland or paradise. The somber tones of his works perhaps humanize the artist's quiet and shy disposition. Both are tranquil and resilient. Moreover, in this exhibition, Lamarroza will feature works that are purely nonrepresentational emphasizing color values and brushwork. Indeed, the exhibit is another milestone that is consistent with Lamarroza's palette as he is a seasoned, unfailing artist who implores various stylistic techniques.
Anita del Rosario on the other hand is a painter and jewel designer turned sculptor. She is known for her anatomical pieces emphasizing movements and contortions to express the sensuous beauty of the human body. In her works, she combines an assortment of materials: copper, brass, aluminum, resin, hardwood, mother of pearl, and the like. Her pieces characterize the intricate placement of materials that is sturdy and sophisticated. Be it the relief wall bound or the round sculpture, del Rosario uniformly dramatizes her art to emphasize her point.
More so, the other featured artist, Caesario, has work that focuses on the juxtaposition of non-representational and symbolist elements such as masks, plants, flowers, fishes, birds, moths, and butterflies which are merging just right in the pattern-like backgrounds. This is in relation to his belief in the preservation of endangered species, plants, and animals alike. The message imbued in his works is that man and nature should continuously co-exist in harmony.
Nevertheless, his choice of colors can be best described as meticulously solid to striking and are diffused by larger background or foreground to create a sense of rest.
On balance, the three artists, although different in their undertakings, are synonymously well acquainted with the elements of rhythm and balance in their respective works. With the exhibit combined, they may be like a symphony not aggregating each other; however, the works of each put together are sure to be satisfyingly pleasing to the eyes of the viewers.

This hall is good for solo or group exhibits. It is spacious enough. Good lighting. It has a storage area for exhibitor/organizer. It's located on the 4f where other galleries are. The dividers are movable. Being in a mall, it generates good foot traffic and hence is also good exposure for the artists/exhibitors.
