Honesty Coffee Shop

This Honesty Store is a must visit when in Batanes. This place is so unique because it is unmanned and it relies on the honesty of the visitors. It is a souvenir shop and cafe where most tourists drop by for snacks and for toilet breaks. All items have prices. You choose what you like, list them down on a notebook and drop your exact payment in a box. I got coffee and some small local cake. There were packed rice meals and camote-cue (fried sweet potato) too.

You pay for the item/s that you get. The item/s will have to be noted on the logbook and the exact amount of the payment dropped inside the payment slot.

I have not tried purchasing from the coffee shop since I only purchased a ref magnet from their souvenir items.

This won't work though on other locations.

Probably the most famous spot on Basco island! And well worth a visit too. Everything is based on honesty - prices are available for all food, drinks and merchandise in the shop. You just have to be honest and leave the right amount in one of several cash deposit boxes.

Take plenty of change as there is no-one there to break larger bills for you, but you can also leave extra as a tip if you're feeling generous!

In the Southern part of the main island of Batanes this honesty store is amazing for you to take a short break from your tour and have some snacks or hot drinks while you enjoy the sea breeze around the area after visiting the old church atop.

The house is a living artifact with the ancient design similar to the stone house of dakay incase you missed it. thou if you want the original untouched stone Houses better go to the old village in another area .

It's called "Honesty coffee shop" because there's no cashier inside. There's a log book where you can write down the items you purchased and a box where you must leave your payment.

Batanes is all about honesty, the place, the people the shop! I love the overall idea of the place and plus you could walk down to the beach front enjoying your hot brewed coffee with some camote fritters! More of this please!

A store run by an elderly couple who rely on the honesty of neighbors and strangers alike to pay for whatever is bought from the store.

In recent years a logbook is kept where customers are encouraged to write down what they bought. A reminder of the values which we need in present day society.

Aside from the famous traditional Ivatan headress, this shop is also what comes to mind to most people when they hear the word Batanes. You can get snacks, coffee, souvenirs, even shirts at the Honesty Shop.

As they say "God is my Security Guard"...they even employed a hearing-impaired attendant. One can pick up goods then drop payments in a box. Special feature is the stone wall where for a small donation one can write stuff on the wall.

The store for honest people. I hope someday honesty stores will be widespread in Manila. :)

Took advantage of doing some groceries here. Been curious and it was legit! No one is here and honesty is indeed the store's main policy. The place is near the Ivana port and a beautiful church

Amazing place!!! Imagine the thought of the owners of this store. They promote the high value of Honesty and they display a trust to people they did not even met.

You get what you want and pay for it, by putting the money in one of several boxes. There is no one there. It is self serve and clean. Very quaint.
