It is a historic Catholic church and the center of Lucban. At the time of my visit, a wedding had just ended and a short while later a funeral began.

Built in 1595 and 3rd oldest in Quezon Province this parish church ~ dedicated to San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, sits majestically in the middle of Lucban, Quezon Province.
It is also the center of the Pahiyas Festival, held every 15th of May in honor of San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of farmers, for the bountiful harvest.
Non-locals often mistake the Pahiyas as the town fiesta; the actual feast of Lucban's patron saint, San Luis, falls on August 19.
This ancient holy ground has faced numerous disasters, both natural and man-made, most recent of which was in 2014 when Typhoon Glenda surged through the town and tore off the roof on top of the altar, flooding the entire church in its wake.
The church has since been rebuilt and now restored to its rightful place as one of the "you-must-visit" churches whenever in Quezon.
Fun fact: 🙂
The exterior of the church periodically receives "shaving" to remove the moss growing on the adobe/lime walls.
3 hours from Manila via the newly cemented Calauan-Nagcarlan road. Expect very steep
up~ and downhill drives,
as well as very sharp curves thru a maze of long, winding roads..drive safely!
And bring cash, we didn't see that many banks eh.
👍🙂

Visiting old churches is always a nice idea. It holds many stories of days gone by. I’m always in awe every time I see old churches. The church itself is historical.

I once visited this Lucban Church during the Pahiyas Festival. I got to revisit it again after our trek to Hulugan Falls.
This church remains to be one of the most beautiful in the province of Quezon. It is also one of the Spanish Colonial Churches of the province. It is a must-visit.

Lucban is well-known for its prestigious Pahiyas Festival where it showcases the locals' gratitude to San Isidro Labrador for their bountiful harvest. The San Luis Obispo de Tolorosa Parish Church (also Saint Louis of Toulouse Parish Church), commonly known as Lucban Church, is a Roman Catholic parish located in Lucban Quezon , the Philippines under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lucena. Church is clean and a quite place for meditation.

This church just got renovated recently (2019). The old bricks at the front with moss plants were gone but it still got its charm nonetheless.

A church built on 1595 completed 200 years after. I liked that they had the sense to not renovate the exterior so much to maintain it's original facade; it emanates a completely anachronistic vibe.

What an amazing experience!
Beautiful, Elegant, and the Spiritual Energy is intoxicating.

One of the best when it comes to architecture. The algae and molds on the walls make it look older than it is. I can still feel the solemness inside the church even though the church was surrounded by busy roads.
