Lezo Church

First Celebration of the Feast of Sto. Niño de Lezo Jan 4, 2020 & will be celebrated every first Saturday of January thereafter. Activities as follows; Pilgrims Mass @ 8am, the Panuktok of the Mayor w/ the Lezeños outside St. Isidore the Farmer Parish Church to welcome the image of Sto. Niño & the Holy Procession/sadsad (street dancing) around the town of Lezo. Viva Kay St. Sto Niño de Lezo & Bendisyuni kami.

Pretty church and adjacent plaza. You’ll have no doubt that the Spanish were here after visiting this church. It’s so Spanish and so colonial. It feels like the 1700s. There are plaques in Spanish. It’s a bit erie actually.

St. Isidore the Farmer Parish Church, commonly known by locals as Lezo Church is one of the beautiful old churches in Aklan. It's located at the end of San Isidro Labrador Street, which was named after the patron saint also. It has a detailed arch entrance with carved wooden doors in between the two belfries. Inside, it was decorated with clay pots that were handmade by locals using the traditional/manual way in pottery making industry in which Lezo is known for.

As one of the oldest churches here in Aklan, this is also one of the best to go to during Holy Week, Simbang Gabi, and Visita Iglesia. The yearly Good Friday procession and the mass on Christmas Eve is something I always look forward to ever since I was a kid. The yearly Christmas decorations are also something to look forward, too!

I believe the church deserves to undergo a good repair and maintenance to keep it intact, so the next generation could still cherish this church.
