Tukon Chapel

Mt Carmel Chapel also known as Tukon Chapel is a small stone structure on the hill and is one of the most photographed chapel in Basco, Batanes. It has undergone repairs through the years due to the typhoons that hit the island. A cemented railing has been added on the hilly side of the chapel which was not there during my last visit. The interior of the chapel still needs to be updated. Hopefully more visitors can help in funding the repairs since this place is included in the North Batan Tour.

Currently under repair because of damages sustained during the super typhoon but still retains much of its old world charm. Also known as the the Our Lady of Mount Carmel chapel. Very intimate and picturesque.

One of the great place to be in Batanes. Just the ambience of the church's inside and out offers peace to every visitor. The interior and its architecture is simple yet elegant. It's location is perfect, it sits a top of a hill, over looking are Pacific Ocean and the West Philippine Sea.

When my family visited this place in 2018, the interiors were under construction. But you could easily tell how beautiful it is. I was only able to take a photo of the exterior. This would have been quite a lovely place for the elopement of your dreams.

The place and the chapel is very nice. When I went there it was under construction but it was still beautiful.

Vantage point itself affords great views of both sides of Batan Island's coast. Charming little chapel. The good people in charge are still repairing it. But still an awesome place.

This is one of the first churches put up using the traditional Ivatan stone materials from Valugan beach ,currently now being reconstructed to maintain its facade, so please caution when entering.

Another victim of the strong typhoons hitting Batanes on occasion, this magnificent little gem on top of a hill was built using money contributed by folks from Metro Manila who wanted a scenic place to get married. The hardwood doors, beams, and roofing, reportedly made from the rare and expensive tanguile wood, are in shambles after being knocked off by powerful winds. When you stop by here, please leave a heartily-given donation to assist in the rehabilitation of the church.

Tukon Church, also known as Mt. Carmel Chapel, is situated on top of Tukon hill. Being on a high elevation, it has a pretty amazing view of the surrounding country side.
The stone facade and walls are reminiscent of the traditional Ivatan stone houses.

This chapel was recenlty built but its concept was derived from an Old Stone House so it feels like you're in an ancient times.
It is very simple but its uniqueness attracts everyone.
