One of the best parks I've ever had the pleasure of going to. I've spent the last few days in Huaraz and have been on a few hikes, they did not disappoint. The stunning views and peacefulness of the park is amazing. My friend made the most of it and has some fantastic drone shots that really show of the natural beauty of the park. I will be looking to return one day.

Unesco world heritage site 333.

2022.08.20 0500 PET-RMN update: Visited on Wednesday 2022.08.17. It was very beautiful. We went to the twin lakes of Chinaconcho and Orconcocha, which were amazing. The turquoise color of the water, particularly for Chinaconcho, is unworldly! We took the short row boat ride around the lake, which was very peaceful and enjoyable. The lakes are flanked by Mount Huascarán on the right (6,768 meters/22,205 feet above sea level - the tallest mountain in Peru) and Mount Huandoy on the left (6,395 meters/20,981 feet above sea level).

There were not too many people there as we visited it mid-week, mid-day. The weather was perfect, about 70 degrees farenheit, however be aware that temperatures drop into the 30s farenheit at night. They have bathrooms there but they charge 1 sol to use it and the men's room did not have any toilet seats (all typical in Peru). It is about an 8-9 hour drive from Lima, about 2-3 hour drive from Huaraz.

This is a beautiful place to visit. You will not regret going here. The Laguna is so beautiful between the snowy peaks. If you have a nice day, the view can be spectacular. The drive up there is also beautiful. You will love it!

If you come here I recommend camping. There's an entrance fee into the park, but the camping is free. You'll be greeted by donkeys, horses and cows who graze in the area and love the interaction. The views are spectacular at the campsite and the sky is usually clear at night which makes for perfect stargazing. There's a local family that lives up there that'll sell snacks and drinks at slightly higher prices than regular, but nothing too expensive. There's plenty of hiking and climbing to do there with spectacular views at every step. The hike to Laguna 69 is well worth the two hour hike. Take sunscreen though as the sun can get pretty brutal. Also, prepare for an hour+ of unpaved road to get there. Don't let that deter you this place is one of the best spots in Peru!

Impressive park. I've been traveling for 4 years, and this is in the top 2 places I've been in from Central America, Colombia and Ecuador. Glacier lakes, waterfalls to numerous to mention, glaciers and mountain streams by the dozen.
You definitely want to take the trip from Carhuaz to Chacas. And if you can't get a window seat, wait for another bus. If your not by the window, you'll miss some of the most amazing scenery on earth.
If your into the outdoors, there's hiking to mountain glacier lakes, there's rock and ice climbing, and if your into Mountain climbing - well, there's dozens to choose from.
Even if you're in your 60's like me, and are not as active as you once were, this park will not disappoint you.
It's your loss if you come to Peru and do not go to this park. I'd put it up there with the best parks of any in the world.

The favorite national park in all of South America. Due to altitude and incline, it's not the easiest place to trek, however, it is highly rewarding. It is advised for travelers to spend few days in Huaraz before heading into the mountains. Four or five day Santa Cruz trek is the most popular one but there are 10+ day treks available as well. There are few one day treks also.

Beautiful national park with amazing scenery. The park has many different treks for all levels and ages.

Very clean and tidy campsites and not too many tourist around. We hiked the Santa cruz trek 3 days and it was the most beautiful scenery we saw in all of Peru.

Good options with local transport to and from the trailheads and finishing points.

The most impressive national park in Perú, it has over 700 peaks and over 1000 lakes, it cosas 30 soles for foreigners and 12 soles for pericias each day, a little bit expensive but it is worth, you can get into easy tours like laguna llanganuco, laguna 69 y nevado pastoruri

Wonderful trip. The gasified water is cool, need to see it in sunlight to truly appreciate the color and depth. The puya raimondii are cool, but the mystery of why they aren't blooming is interesting. The walk from the visitor center to the glacier was humbling. Bring or buy chocolate to help with the altitude. 16500 feet needs to be adjusted to.

The Santa Cruz Trek through the Cordillera Blanca in the Huascarain National Park is one of the most beautiful I've ever hiked!! There are wild horses, glacial lakes, and beautiful views including that of the tallest mountain within the Tropics - Huascaran! We split our gear for the 4 day trek between 4 people, carried canned meat and quinoa, a small pot for boiling water, as well as iodine tablets for the water in our canteens, 2 small tents, and mats. You definitely need sunscreen for the elevation to be so near the sun and chapstick with SPF, I blistered the back of my hands and face/lips.I highly recommend being in your sleeping bag in your tent by sundown as it drops to freezing. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, sleep with your gear and shoes inside your tent, under your head or near you. People will come into your camp at night and take anything that is easily visible or too near your tent entrance! Overall, an amazing journey though and would absolute recommend! There are several tour groups in Huaraz, but you can do it on your own as a group if you're experienced, no problem. They rent gear out in town and you catch a bus up into the mountains early in the morning.

At 14,700 feet the air gets thin! That was truly the hardest part about the hike to Laguna 69. National Geographic views.

UNESCO's World Heritage, Huascaran National Park protects the heart of the World's highest tropical mountain range in the central Peruvian Andes. The park lives on 340,000 hectares including over 600 glaciers and about 300 lakes. The property is home to the endegerous animals like Vicuna(the coat is more expensive than the gold), Andean Mountain Cat and Queen of the Andes plant.

Stunning mountain range with glaciers, jagged peaks, and chilly blue lakes. Great hiking and mountaineering to be had.
