My husband and I both purchased Panama hats directly from the owner, Luis, who has been in business for 25 years. His hats are all manufactured to his specifications in Ecuador, which means top quality for consumers. The service and attention he gave us to make sure we were happy and got the perfect fit was outstanding! You can’t go wrong buying a hat from Luis!

Amazing shop if you're looking for authentic! The owner was absolutely wonderful, sized me up correctly and was a pleasure to deal with! The lady was very friendly, and helped me and my partner find the right size and shape to suit us. My Spanish is terrible, yet she made up for that with enough English :)

We paid $65 for two hats, that came with a box, and she taught us how to fold them too. I am not sure what grade they are, but it feels good enough quality for what I was looking for. There were more expensive options too if that's what you are looking for - personally I was looking for a nice fitting, nice looking hat to wear functionality throughout my trip. She also showed us cheap Chinese replicas by way of comparison.

I passed by a few shops in the more touristy Casco Viejo yesterday, and whilst I cannot compare quality, I know that they started at $60+ per hat.

Luis is a very helpful friendly guy. I had no ideas about hat sizing other than how it feels. But he helped me find a real Panama hat that suits me. Size 57, a bit snug but should be good for golfing.

We started talking about food, and he recommended a nearby Puruvian restaurant for ceviche. Too bad that the restaurant was not serving that dish that day (only Sat/Sun?) due to the annoying Covid. I am hoping he will have other suggestions.

But i am going back to his store today to maybe get more hats for friends..if they can fit in my bag.
