Victor isn’t your typical tour guide and the experience is like no other. A family friend recommended the day trip to San Blas and Victor and his family made the trip super special.

Everything was smooth from pick up in Panama City to San Blas islands and back. The communication is easy and in full English which levitates a lot of anxiety for me as a female solo traveler.

The tour was timed perfectly where our group visited popular island just ourselves. His community is so welcoming and he shared some key cultural insight and ways of living about the Kuna people, which you don’t get with other tours. At no point we were pressured to buy souvenirs or other extras, but the offers were very reasonable. His family and community should be so proud of him for offering a very unique side of Panama and the Guna Yala to his guests.

Highly recommend for tourists who want more than a trip to beautiful beaches.

Recently went on a San Blas day tour with Victor (with a driver pick up from the city) and everything was perfect. Victor is a very thoughful guide and a knows some beautiful, but not generally very well known places. I recommend his services a lot.

The El Chorillo tour with Victor was the highlight of our trip to Panama. We loved seeing parts of the city that are not in tourist areas and learning about the complex relationship between Panama and the U.S.

A unique and educational walking tour of old town Casco Viejo through the eyes of a local. We had one day to spend in Panamá, and we did not want it to be “touristy”.
If you want to meet the nicest, authentic, hard-working locals, and learn about the history of Panamá, this is a wonderful tour for you.

I’ve been on tours in dozens of countries/cities and this is one of the best I’ve ever taken. Victor gave me such a wonderful insider view into the culture and life in Panama City beyond just the tourist quarter, with a lot of history and thoughtful commentary (plus fun stops throughout).

I also loved how everywhere we went on our tour locals would walk up and greet us, telling me how Victor was “the greatest tour guide in Panama.” The respect of the community for his tours and his commitment to showcasing his city’s culture was evident.

Highly recommend for everyone - a real highlight of my Central American trip!

Day 1 - history and a panama city tour like no other.
DAY 2 - San Blas islands with a tour of his families island. We met many Guna people and saw how they lived.
Local lunches both days.

Without a doubt, Victor’s tour was the highlight our our week in Panama City. My friend and I had booked an Airbnb on the outskirts of Casco Viejo, technically in the El Chorrillo neighborhood that many taxi drivers, police, etc, tell you to avoid. When I stumbled across this tour of the neighborhood, I knew we had to book it. For those who prefer to see only clean, touristy, ‘Instagram-worthy’ places, this definitely isn’t that. If you truly enjoy learning and experiencing the nitty gritty of local life, this is the tour for you.

Víctor has been leading these tours for 5+ years and he is well-known in the neighborhood and locals are very welcoming of his tours. He does a ton of work within the community and it really was an honor to meet him and learn about his community projects.

On the tour, you learn and see how the gentrification of Casco Viejo is affecting and approaching the neighborhood of El Chorrillo, similar in many cities all over the world, and this is your chance to see firsthand, the effects on a community. Some of the the things we saw on the tour include:
-the gym where Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran used to train
-public housing buildings
-school (the kids/teens all knew Victor because he has non-profit programs working with them)
-an outdoor space where older men play dominoes every day
-a hat maker who took over the business from his father and grandfather
-food from a street cart that we brought into a nearby local bar in the neighborhood and enjoyed a beer there (It was pretty cool that we got to check it out because we likely would have been too intimidated to go in on our own)
-Avenida Central, where locals shop
-La Rana Dorada, a brewery in Casco Viejo, to try some of local beers and rum

We learned so much from Victor, and trust me - this is an experience that you don’t want to miss! I look forward to returning to Panama City someday and booking this same tour with Victor to see the ongoing changes to this community. He really is making a difference, and it’s impressive. The world needs more people like him! I can only hope that the El Chorrillo neighborhood is able to hold on to its energy and vibe, while investors seek to push locals out with their new, fancy buildings and money. It would be a shame to lose the authenticity and energy of the locals living there.

Victor is a fabulous guide, very nice, relaxed, knowledgable and accomodating to the needs of his visitors. My family and I highly recommend Victor to the visitors who want to meet real people living in real communities.

Perfect way, how to find out more from the city than just tradition sightseeings. Absolutely recommended.

Ein MUST für Panama. Victor ist mit extrem viel Engagement und Herzblut für sein Land unterwegs. Er hat diverse Projekte ins Leben gerufen und Engagiert sich sozial für Kinder. Die Walking Tour geht durch das El Chorillo Quartier und ist extrem spannend. Victor versorgt einem mit vielen Details über das Quartier und die Menschen vor Ort. Da er ursprünglich aus Guna Yala (San Blas) ist, bieter er auch Touren dorthin an. Undbedingte Empfehlung Victor zu kontaktieren. Danke vielmals für deine Zeit!

Nuestro tour fue por “El Chorrillo” y Casco Viejo, nuestra guía Jenny fue empatica y súper agradable, nos mostró los puntos más relevantes y nos explicó todo. Que tour más divertido e interesante! Te da otra perspectiva de un barrio conocido por ser peligroso en Panamá, el Chorrillo. Juegas dominos con la comunidad en el "parque de los aburridos", y experimentas un poquito de lo que es la otra cara del Chorrillo para apreciar más a nuestro querido Panamá! Recomendado.

Victor es un excelente guía para mostrarte la Ciudad que está allí, y casi nunca ves.

We booked and paid extra for a private tour but were dumped into a group tour. Requested reimbursement for the difference between what we paid and what others paid for the group tour and we given a very small refund and then ignored. Essentially overcharged $100.
