Very beautiful little area that looks out onto the water. A lot of good places to get pictures of your group. As a solo traveler, I only got some shots of the view. Very nice. Visit the artesanias here instead of the market!

Make sure you visit the café at the rooftop of the Spanish Culture Institute, a fairly new, stylish but totally non commercial place. Have a sundowner there, the view from the terrace is breathtaking, sun setting over the Old Town on one side and the last rays of sun reflecting in the glass facades over the skyline of Panama City. Try the Maracuja Mojito and be suprised how they serve it. Order Croquetas to go along as nibbles, outstanding... Then you stroll along the Bougainvillea covered walkway and meet some "Muelles de San Blas" selling their lovely indigenous handicraft - little hand embroidered squares with ancient geometrical motives or more modern ones. Remember "white" is not a native color, those motives are a "line extension" of the product. Make lovely little pillows, or collect several and stitch them together to make a patchwork blanket or simply frame them, they are all unique pieces of native art. Sizes may vary from 8-12 inches squared... Prices are defintely lower than at any mall, as they sell direct. They start at USD 20. The pieces are typically stitched together, so don't be fooled if you are pointing at one and the lady tears it off, the price goes per square. Don't haggle too much, these indigenous people have a tough life and are working hard but they proudly present their craftsmanship and don't beg for anything. It pays off to support ancient craftsmanship, it is an "endangered species"...anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed this area of Panama.

Part of the Casco Viejo or old quarter of Panama City. Absolutely gorgeous. The Casco Viejo is the best part of Panama City and an absolute must if visiting.
