Thrifty Car Rental | Albrook

This was our 3rd time renting with Thrifty in Albrook. Service was prompt and courteous, the car we reserved was available, and the terms of the contract/reservation were exactly as stated. I recommend asking for confirmation of how much deposits and taxes will be via email when you book, as sometimes Thrifty Company website does not explain all policies. But in general, this seems to be the exception when compared to the general difficulty others have experienced renting cars in Panama.
Also, it if you are planning to travel outside of Panama City, renting in Albrook is the easiest way to avoid the crazy traffic and roadways in the city. Very convenient.

We are really puzzled by bad reviews. We had very positive experience at this location. From letting us use his personal phone Wi-Fi, recommending where to buy good SIM card, to watching our bags while we went to restaurant for lunch - the gentleman went above and beyond his duty.
Car was in good shape, there was no issues with imaginary scratches upon return, I would rent there again a heart-beat.
Perhaps reviews were bad because only when things go wrong people bother to leave them.
P.s. he even made sure that the taxi we took after car return didn't overcharge us.

Roberto was a fine multilingual agent. Well spoken and very polite, while being thorough with the checklists to get us on the way. I recommend this Thrifty agent to be the best I've ever met while using Thrifty.

Tout ok nous avons loué une kia rio 10 jours, les tarifs ok, mais ils ajoutent un peu trop dans des "assurances" qu'au final te couvrent ta carte de crédit... Bref. Tout ok on a pu rendre la voiture à l'aéroport de Tocumen le jour de notre vol, c'était top.

Pas eu de soucis avec la voiture, rien à signaler d'autre.

Demoraron para la entrega del auto, debido a que habían incluido solo 1 día y yo había hecho la reserva por 3 días, tras 2 horas de papeleo me lo entregaron.
Tenía que pagar solamente USD 140.00 y terminé pagando USD 350 y tantos, ese día tenia que viajar y no tenía más opción que pagar la cifra citada.
Para entregar el auto, no había nadie en la oficina y tuve que esperar a que aparecieran por más de 1 hora.
Aun estoy esperando que me devuelvan mi deposito y según ellos al día siguiente me lo harían efectivo en mi tarjeta.

Do not rent from this agency. They did not have the automatic car we’d reserved and instead gave us a manual transmission truck that wouldn’t shift into reverse and had a broken gas gauge. Additionally, they’ve put additional unauthorized charges on our credit card after we returned the car (one 2 days and another over a week later). There is no answer at the phone number on the rental paperwork, so our credit card company is trying to have the charges reversed. If you need a rental car in Panama, go on expat pages on Facebook and ask for recommendations for reputable agencies. Don’t trust the brand names you find on Expedia - they aren’t affiliated with the US companies.

Shocking customer service! I reserved a car several weeks prior to my arrival, but said they had no cars available after planning and paying for my whole trip across Panama! There wasn't even an apology. Instead I went to Dollar Car Rental in the airport, who sypathised with my situation and provided me with a car of a similar price and full insurance. Go to Dollar instead and don't waste your time!

I booked a car in this location. First, at 8 am when I was supposed to get the car , nobody was literally at work. Before 9, a person appeared in Hertz and it came out that he is doing also the Thrifty counter. It took ages to open the Thrifty counter, he finally managed. Then it came out there was no car. So I waited for another hour :D And then finally, I got charged double on my credit card! Good luck to you!

Reserved over a week in advance. Arrived and no cars available, completely unappologetic, unhelpful and miserable. 1 star is too many - avoid.
Dollar was far more helpful and found a car from another center last minute. Carlos was excellent.

Beware it's a scam. They're scamming people by adding additional insurances that are already covered by credit card. Even after discussion they are not willing to remove the cost.

Zero stars. Didn't honor reservation. No car for us. Had to pay 5 times more at different company. Horrible.
