I rented a SUV car with ACE through Discovercars for seven days. The total amount would be $262 (including full coverage insurance), the voucher said that I was fully covered, and did not have to accept any additional insurance from the car rental company.

After a 14 hour flight, I finally arrived at the ACE car rental desk, ready to pick up my car. The car I had initially rented was not available, and they gave me a similar car, which was al fine.

Then the guy behind the desk said that I had to get extra third party liability insurance, which is mandatory in Panama. For seven days, the minimum insurance started at $300 dollars!

I said that already had full coverage, including third party liability insurance. I showed it to him on my voucher, and he said that this was not valid in Panama and that I had the law required me to take in Panama. Of course I knew this was a complete scam, and pointed out that my voucher from Discovercars specifically said that I don't have to accept any additional insurance. He rejected this and told me this was not correct. I asked him he would not give me the car if I did not take this insurance and he said no...

After a discussion of more than one hour I finally gave up and took the insurance. He gave me some bogus paper which would prove that I couldn't get the car any other way.

The next day I reported this with this Discovercars and they told me they would look in to it. For 6 weeks I got e-mails from them telling me they contacted ACE, but did not get a reply. Today they finally got a reply which said that ACE would not refund my $300 because all the insurance they offer is OPTIONAL.

Becareful people. Always read reviews befor renting a car. I've learned this the hard way..

The car I booked was not available so we were given a smaller one (for the same $ amount as the larger one I had reserved).

We were told it was the only vehicle they had…..so we took it since it was so late.

Then when we got n the. Ar to drive away we noticed roaches. Not one or two. LOTS.

That made for a horrible 2 hour drive to the country……and a bad drive back to the airport days later.

We reported the problem when we turned it back in. The attendant said he would report the car for fumigation. As we were finishing the checkout paperwork someone approached he’d the desk to rent a car. The attendant told him he only had one (ours). He held up the keys we had just handed over.

It was rented right after we turned in the roach coach!!!

A total fraud! I rent a Subaru Forester. First of all, the car was dirty and disgusting. I realized 600 km away that the right hand front light did not work. I called the agency and they hang-up on me. I was charge 23$ instead of 13$ (as indicated in the contract) for liability insurance and they took a 5000 $ deposit instead of the 3000 for a SUV. If they ask you for the 10$ cash for the toll booth, do not accept. It was late and with two small children tired and screaming around, I did sign the contract. But what other choices did I really had? Anyway, I opened a complaint with my credit card company and they are investigating it… DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.

We came to pick up the car that we reserved online. They had no car to give us. I am not sure why, but because of some error in the system it would say 8 AM instead of 8 PM on September 22nd of 2017

However, as far as I know it professional car rental agency would hold a reservation for 24 hours. However, in that case they just informed us that they had no car for us anymore and that was that

They were not willing to help and were completely unapologetic for the in convince. They simply didn't care

I think that was very unprofessional and would advice everyone to away from this business

Wish I had read these reviews before renting from Ace. Don't rent from them unless: - you like being served by people who work in the service industry because they so obviously hate dealing with people/visitors; you want to be charged way more than you are initially told; you want an older model car inferior to what you ordered online; you want to get told you paid less than what your receipt actually says you paid; and you want to drive car that sounds and fumes like a motorboat. If that sounds like a fun way to spend 6 days travelling 950km then Ace will no doubt meet those expectations! There should be a '0' rating.

I really needed a zero star rating for this review. DON’T ever rent from ACE in PTY. They did not honor the reservation that we made and tried to bait and switch, telling my wife that that had only one car available: a KIA hatchback, NOT smaller to the RAV, but at double the price. I reserved a car for my wife to use in Panama City, Panama through Hotwire. A RAV-4 or similar was quoted at $431.42 including all taxes for 28 days. Upon arriving she was told:
1. They did not have a car similar to the one that we had reserved. It would be a smaller car without all-wheel drive at double the price.
2. They would not accept our auto insurance or the coverage from our credit card which we have used throughout the US and abroad.
3. We would need to purchase their insurance and they would put a $1500 hold on our credit card. She walked away and I called Hotwire and entered a complaint.
Moral of the story, stay away from ACE in PTY, Panama City airport in the Republic of Panama!

Worst carrental ever!!!
First they force you to accept a basic obligatory insurance of $23,- a day which was not shown while making the reservation.
Second: when returning the car they made me pay a cleaning fee of $ 25,- because it was “excessieve” dirty. There was only some sand in the car that was left after travelling through Panama for 20 days with a family with 3 kids.
In my opinion just a way to make some extra money after returning the car.
When I refused to pay the guy from Ace called the police and they decided that they were neutral in this case. I was told that If I didn’t pay I needed to wait for a judge that was supposed to come at 7 pm coinsidentely the time of my flight.....
Don’t go to Ace carrental at Tocumen, they will ripp you off one way or the other.

I booker a rental car with ACE on May 5, 2018 from July 8,2018 to July 29, 2018. When I made the reservation I accepted the insurance. The total cost for booking was about $300.00. ($209.00 for the rental and about $100.00 for the insurance). But ACE never charged me for the insurance that I selected with my online purchase. When I arrived at ACE rental location in PTY the agent told me the rental insurance would be $772.46 that is way more than what I agreed to when I booked online. Since July 8, 2018, my husband and I have called and emailed numerous times to get clarification but we get conflicting information, no response, or a hostile response.

Every time we call customer care, we get a busy signal or a message saying this is a non working number. We have to call the reservation number and ask to transfer us to customer care.

When my husband called customer care Christina was rude and hung up on me when I was trying to get information. I called again and was connected with Christina, I told her that was very unprofessional way to treat a customer and told her I would be writing a review summaries our experience with ACE on every social media. Because what they did was misleading and deceptive.

My husband called the Tocumen office and spoke with Alejandro Escalón the ACE manager at PTY location on July 11, 2018. He threatened us saying he wants the car back today because I told him he took advantage of a consumer and that we will return the car on July 14, 2018 when my husband arrives in Panama City. I also told him what he is doing is criminal and he should be ashamed.

He also told us he would send me an email with ACE’s policy, the agreement, and an explanation for continuing to charge if we returned the car on July 14, 2018. But I have not received anything from him. Another lie!

They said they contacted us but that is not true we never received a call from ACE. Hopefully they can prove they called by monitoring and documenting all calls. If not we can pull our phone transactions to validate ACE never called us. Another lie

A total nightmare, avoid renting from this ACE location. They have poor customer service and the car that is advertised online is nothing close to what they provided. We got an old car with scratches, dents and dings.

They do not even deserve 1 star! they are absolutely terrible and corrupt. I got there with my paperwork from my insurance company because I wanted to decline all of their insurance coverage and they forced me to get their third party liability insurance claiming it was mandatory in Panama and before I traveled I had verified and that was not true. On top of that, I had rented a compact vehicle and they gave me a sub-compact claiming it was the same class, and they said that if I did not want to take it I could just rent from another rental place. I could not find any compact car with the other car rentals (Nothing!) so I had to rent with them. When I returned the car the counter was empty and the lady from the other rental place said that they are never there they only come when they know someone is coming to pick up a car, so I had to drop off the keys at Dollar. They put a hold on my credit card for $2648 (for a two day rental) and its been 8 days and they haven't released the funds yet. Avoid it at all cost!

Just one word to describe this car rental: Crooks!!!!!

El peor centro de renta de vehículos al que e podido asistir. Los vehículos son viejos, con muchas millas , deberían sacar esos autos de circulación. . En muy mal estado extremo ( de carrocería, múltiples abolladuras y rayones ) e internamente peor , los asientos sucios , torcidos , con forros en muy mal estado . El aseo interno de los autos es deplorable. Una sola persona para entregar autos que nunca está. Y para colmo los chicos de atención al cliente mal educados y groseros. Eso sin contar que han transcurrido 7 días y aún no han devuelto el depósito en garantía a mi tarjeta de crédito. Pésimo esta línea. Deberían quitarles la licencia.

Nepujcujte si tam auto. Pojistite tou nejvyssi pojistkou a pry se vztahuje pouze na karoserii. Měli jsme v interieru sotva viditelny skrabanec na palubovce, ktery tam uz byl od predani, ktere probehlo v noci za spatne viditelnosti, ale vymahali po nas 65 USD Urcite to tak zkousi vzdy! Auto si tam rozhodne nepujcujte! Hodnocení je záporne !

DA EVITARE ASSOLUTAMENTE!!
Ho prenotato un noleggio auto per 15 giorni e la tariffa indicata sul sito includeva tutto (tasse, spese pratica e assicurazione).
Al ritiro dell'auto presso l'aeroporto di Panama mi hanno comunicato invece che l'assicurazione, altri costi e la pulizia auto erano esclusi e, pertanto, avrei dovuto aggiungere circa 400 dollari.
Ovviamente non ho ritirato l'auto.
SONO POCO ONESTI.

Esta compañía no la recomiendo. Rente un carro el 5 de febr de 2018 en ACE del aeropuerto. Me dieron un carro prácticamente sin gasolina y sucio. Cuando se cumplió el tiempo que lo tenía que entregar, todo iba normal. Cuando regrese a mi país Canadá, revisé mi cuenta de banco y ellos cobraron mi depósito. Llamé y me dijeron que hubo un error en el sistema que me devolvería el depósito en 15 días. Esta es la hora que no me devuelven nada. Ya empezé a tomar medidas al respecto. No dejare que se queden con mi depósito!!!
I don't recommend this company. I rented a car last Feb 5, 2018 at ACE at the airport. The car they provided me was empty of gas and dirty. When I returned the car, everything seemed to be ok. But when I come back to my country Canada, I checked my bank account and realized they took my deposit. I called them and they said that there was an error in the system and that they would give my deposit back to me. This is the time they don't give me anything back. I started a process against them because I won't let them to steal my deposit !!!

NO RENTEN AUTOS EN ACE, AUTOS SUCIOS VIEJOS! Lo rentamos con hotel en booking, así que el alquiler nos salia mas barato, pero al llegar ahí nos dijeron que no estaba incluido el seguro lo que hizo que suba el precio casi al triple de los que pagamos por internet.

Reservamos un kia sportage y nos dieron un subaru XV de hace más de 15 años super sucio, por los parabrisas y las ventanas no se veía nada ya que tenía manchas de agua secas en todos los vidrios, los limpiavidrios o plumas no servían para nada cuando llovía, nunca los habían cambiado, super peligroso, es por eso que se debíamos tomar el seguro completo , ya que era muy fácil accidentarse con un auto así, hicimos los reclamos en el mostrador del aeropuerto pero no les importó un bledo, nada gentiles y el Sr que entrega los autos no habla nada amable parece que no le gusta lo que hace!!!!

Nos hicieron pagar el telepeaje que otros viajero habían comprado y dejaron con saldo, un robo, si ya estaba pagado deberían usarse hasta que se acabe el saldo es una estafa total.

El valor del deducible que compramos en caso de accidente era de 4000 dólares en caso de pérdida total, como es posible esto, más caro que el valor del auto más fácil se compra otro auto viejo en mejores condiciones que el que alquilamos, ese auto no costaba mas de 2500 dolares en panama, como puede ser posible esto!!!!!!!

Nada contento de nuestra experiencia en Panamá con esta rentadora, no la recomiendo a nadie, es mejor ir en metro o en taxi que en un auto de ellos y mucho más barato!!!!
