Convento de las Concepcionistas

The cistern in the convent is my favourite among the ruins at Panama Viejo. Lots of restoration activities at the convent makes it one of the better developed sites, with more information placards to add historical insights and information about the restoration and preservation processes.

Great museum and archaeological site. Only $10, even for foreign visitors like ourselves. It was raining heavily so we spent most time indoors in the main museum building in the middle of the site. Free Minibus / electric buggy transport to and from the entrance. Cafe, toilets, information boards in both Spanish and English, everything we need.

Here, we learned about the first settlement, churches, monasteries and convents in Panama City, (Panama Viejo) before the building of the 'old town' further west (Casco Viejo). Ask your taxi driver for 'Panama Viejo' to find this museum.

Awesome place for a reception or fancy dinner.

Najstarsza część miasta . Pierwotna Panama dziś zwana Starą Panamą - Panama Viejo doprowadzona do stanu ruiny przez wtedy jeszcze Kapitana Morgana. Nigdy nie została odbudowana przez Hiszpanów . Zdecydowali , że przeniosą miasto o 9 km w lokalizację łatwiejszą do obrony. Tak powstaje dzisiejsze Stare Miasto Panama czyli Casco Viejo. Nie liczy, na spacer uliczkami ponad 500 letniego miasta gdzie cień dadzą Ci zabudowania. Natomiast jeżeli masz wyobraźnie- koniecznie odwiedź to miejsce! Spacerując po między ruinami uzmysłowisz sobie jak duże ,bogate i ważne było to miasto ! Obecnie senna - nie licznie odwiedzana przez spieszących się turystów, ale zachwycająca koneserów.
Czasem odbywają się wieczorem zazwyczaj bezpłatne koncerty np folklorystyczne- takich okazji NIE NALEŻY PRZEOCZYĆ!!!
