Hostel & Bar De Basis

Such a lovely place to stay! We stayed for 3 nights and and ate through the whole menu at Bennies. The food tastes so good and the staff is the best. They serve oat milk as well and the Cappuccino is just 💯 We booked the private room and liked how comfy the bed was. Our kid loved to watch the street through the window directly next to the bed. There’s also a corner with some toys for the kids and even games for everyone at the restaurant.
De basis is located in the city centre and you can reach a lot of nice spots on foot. We will definitely come back! 🫶🏻

Amazing hostel! Great stay in the middle of the city. We didn't know if we had the right door to the hostel, but once inside it was very clear.

This is a pretty new hostel so everything is clean and well kept, the staff are so friendly and the location is very handy, it's 10 minutes walk from the train station and it's 3-4 minutes walk from the city centre with all the stores.

Super friendly staff, and the beds are really comfy!! Also liked the food. So definitely a good choice if you want to stay in Zwolle and meet other people 🔥💫

Perfect for a group of friends. I had an amazing experience. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated. The room was comfortable and the bar service fast. The staff (especially Justin) were very helpful and kind.If I come back to zwolle I will definitely choose this amazing hostel:)

Was super nice there. Have been for a short trip in Zwolle and have felt there almost like home. The team is super nice and helped us with all our questions and in the restaurant/bar we could have breakfast and a drink in the evening. It felt like we were in a hotel. We were in a private room and it was really spacious, nice and really well soundproofed as far as the walls are concerned. Through the many windows, however, you could hear well what was going on down on the street but a lot of light came into the room and you had a beautiful view. The bathroom was really nice and also the beds were great. Totally comfortable and cozy, I could sleep better there than at home. We did not find the kitchen directly on the first day, but it was also very well equipped. It's just a shame that since you are on different floors, you don't really see anyone else. There is also no "common room" except the restaurant/bar on the first floor. The breakfast options were great. For us it was a bit confusing because we could book a breakfast for our stay at the hostel, but when we did we accidentally ordered à la carte. In general, our stay at the Hostel & Bar de Basis was wonderful and definitely a recommendation!

The place is perfect to come with your family and friends. It has all the facilities and the staff is so nice, especially Justin, who was so kind. If we come back to Zwolle, we'll stay here again for sure. Thank you for everything.

Due to unforeseen problems I slept in De Basis as a local, checking in at 3am. The night team was still there, which was great, and enthusiastically helped me to check in.

The hostel prices are fair for west EU standards, and the beds in the dorms are partially shielded giving you plenty of privacy, whilst still allowing you to socialize if you're sitting up straight (in theory, I was alone in the 8 person dorm).

As the venue was just recently opened, some things were still missing and the crew was still getting the hang of how everything worked, but the happy go-for-it approach they all seemed to have more than made up for it.

With an in-venue bar and vegan/vegetarian restaurant this hostel seems very backpack/interrail-friendly, however the lockers are very small (I'd guess about 10L) and will not fit an average, stuffed backpack let alone a trekking backpack. The rooms are protected with card-based locks however, so your stuff is somewhat safe.

All in all, it's got some "we're just getting started" 'pains', but it'll be a great stay in beautiful Zwolle.

Cute and comfy hostel with a friendly vibe. Facilities were great and the staff always went above and beyond to help out. Zwolle is a beautiful place to visit and this hostel was the perfect place to stay!

The staff is friendly and helpful. At the restaurant downstairs you can get breakfast, lunch or dinner for a very nice price!

I loved my stay at De Basis. It was the perfect kind of shelter I was looking for. Super helpful staff and everything extraordinarily clean. Fair prices as well. Delicate coffee just downstairs. Looking forward to coming back again!

Stayed here for one night on a trip with the family to Netherlands. Great room For a family (quad room with own bathroom) Kids loved the bunks! Good value in the area and great friendly helpful staff.

Very nice hostel with amazing people working there! Me and my friends really needed help and the staff (especially Justin 💛) helped us and showed their hospitality. It was a pleasure to stay there!
