We rented a couple of e-bikes from Ben's bike on Bruges and literally stumbled onto what I feel is one of the most interesting museums I ever visited. We meet the curator, who, along with his brother and other dedicated people focus on keeping the role of Canadians and British soldiers, who liberated the area in WW2. They have done a remarkable job! People from all over have forwarded memorabilia to the museum. I highly recommend getting a bike, riding along the canals and visiting this museum. I don't think you will be disappointed and you will have an enjoyable day.

I visited on Saturday 27/4/24 , one of the best military museums I have visited. I saw a post advising 1-2 hours, I was there 6 hours until they closed.

Great museum with a few rare pieces like the Staghound AFV and the German ME208 catches immediate attention! Not to forget the Wheeled PAK43! The history of the liberation of the Belgian Coast in particular Knokke itself! Great museum with lovely passionate people running it! Thanks!

It’s one of the best museum that I saw, really good made in the detail, the story teller it’s very well made and the People that are there are very very kind, helpful and have no problem speaking to you in English. We will return of course because they are expanding the museum. Thanks so much to the man on the reception. Ah another really interesting thing is that the museum it’s private and the two Brothers that made it are the son’s of one of the veteran of the WWII, which make another sense on everything.

WOW! One of the best museums I've ever been to. From the outside it looks small, but it took us a few hours to get around and could have spent longer! We learnt a lot, and would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic small museum that's rapidly growing. Attention to detail is incredible. They have captured the sounds and the sights and brought them together into a very engaging experience. Highly recommended. Great value too. If you are a WWII buff, or interested in the impact it had on the local area, definitely give it a visit.

Fantastic museum of local WW2 history. Great exhibits with authentic uniforms. It's on the smaller side, so easily done in about an hour and a half to two hours. Highly recommended.

Very interesting museum collection and stories of WW II. Private museum, very intimate surroundings in an old schoolhouse. I recommend audiotape.

The Museum was something I had read about before hand, and thought I would like it. It seemed no one in Bruges had heard of it. What a shame, because it is so well done. I was very impressed with the detail and amount of work completed for history buffs, and anyone else wanting to learn of the hardships of battle, and the joys of liberation. Headsets available to assist in understanding the 'life- like' displays. Five star exhibit in my books. *****

I didn’t know the museum but a super nice concierge at my hotel send me there (Pedro from Green Park Hotel).
It was an amazing discovery since it focus on a concrete period/operation of the II War (operation Switchback). I learned a lot unknown facts, saw a lot of original items and ended up astonished by the bravery of the Belgium resistance and the Canadian troops sent to Flanders.
It’s recommendable to go with children since it’s a quick tour and they have a lot to see, a few videos, a few vehicles and a fighter jet. For a private collection it’s amazing the amount of little details that a visitor can see.
I had to take a few beers to let the amount of information sink in since the horrors of the war can cause a lot of sadness even if almost 80 years have gone by.
It’s well worth a visit.

It's worthwhile visiting. The audio guide combined with so many authentic uniforms, and the true story of the region and it's losses, make it educational and memorabel.

As part of a battlefield circulation tour, this museum was recommended by the staff at the Atlantic Wall Museum in nearby Oostende/ Nieupooort. Absolutely outstanding and very clearly a labor of love. As a Canadian visiting, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was proud to see all the 2nd Div units who fought along the coast represented (and more). It's a 30 minute trip from Bruges, one 15 minute train and a short bus ride right behind the station. If you're a Canadian visiting Bruges with an interest in WW2, do yourself a favor and visit, you won't regret it.

Having German-Canadian roots, with little knowledge about Canada's contribution in WW2, apart from Flander's fields, I was amazed how history was brought to life here. What a wonderful find this museum was. Highly recommended, especially if you are a history buff.

Very good museum to understand how the battle of the scheldt played out. Before, I had never heard of the switchback manoeuvre, but this museum explains it very well. It's a piece of history that played a vital role in the victory of the allies during WW2.
There are free audioguides in at least english, dutch, and french. You can expect to spend 2 hours here.
