The Sherman tank - War memorial

Amazing to see this bit of history.... This Sherman Tank M4 was fighting over in Africa before it was taken to aid the fight in the Netherlands.... It over looks the ocean where the Allied forces once came a shore just a short walk from the actual landing pier... The Tank still looks the same as it did and looks in pretty good condition considering its so close to the salt water... If you are in the area you should definitely go and see it... And pay respects to the lads that got the job done... And those that didnt.

Nice view,, over the dike a memorable historic place, worth a visit,, heroines of world war and victims sadly pays lives at young age such a waste of lives in so many ways. Leaving a pain markings to the rest of generations to come. It makes me wonder so many questions how come it happens and why in that time people allows it to happen into their lives.

Next to a beautiful beach with an amazing view!

Neat how they have done the restoration of the tank. Lovely place to hang out. Cool to see kids enjoy climbing up the tank and enjoying this beautiful piece of history.

Dieser bereits vom weiten sichtbare Sherman Panzer fungiert als Denkmal.
Dieser Panzer steht für die Befreiung von Westkapelle.
Im November 1944 war dieser Panzer an der Schlacht um die Shelde beteiligt.

Es gibt sehr viele Fotos am Denkmal zu sehen und zu bestaunen, diese aus der Zeit im und um den zweiten Weltkrieg herum stammen.

Außerdem bekommt man von hier oben eine tolle Aussicht auf das Meer und die Ortschaft Westkapelle geboten.
Ein entsprechendes Kriegsmuseum befindet sich direkt unterhalb des Denkmales.

Mehrere Sitzmöglichkeiten laden am Denkmal zum verweilen und pausieren ein.

Ein Stück Geschichte zum anfassen. Interessant auch das Museum mit der Möglichkeit Kaffee und Kuchen zu essen.

Sehr schön gestalteter Ort zum Gedenken an diese Zeit. Der Sherman Tank, als auch das Landungsboot waren für mich und meine beiden Kinder interessant. Der kleinen hat einfach der Panzer und das Landungsboot gefallen; die Große war an den Hintergründen interessiert.

Und ja, auch ich habe ein Bild des Panzers mit meinen Kindern drauf. Kinder haben dazu noch einen ganz anderen Bezug...

Dies ist ein geschichtsträchtiger Ort und sehr schön um diesen zu besuchen
