Beautiful place with many paths, good for hiking and biking. I encountered 3 deers and many different species of birds. The path through a swamp (white route) was not very long, but it's still very beautiful and relaxing to be there. This is a popular area so you most likely will see other people, but everyone was super friendly and happy.
I'd recommend getting proper shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, as some path segments can be very wet and muddy. If you plan to bike, some paths may not be suitable for a city bike (because of deep puddles that are "sticky").

Simply the best national park in Drenthe, and arguably one of the finest in the northern Netherlands!
It offers a landscape of breathtaking beauty. Here, vast stretches of heather create a vibrant purple in late summer, while shimmering fens and quiet woodlands offer year-round wonder.
Explore on foot, bicycle, or even horseback, and immerse yourself in this unique Dutch wilderness.

I recently visited the Dutch province Drenthe, known for its history and unspoilt nature. You can hike in ancient forests, through heathlands, enjoy sunrises, learn about dolmens (hunebedden), visit local villages, spend the night in nature, enjoy great restaurants and visit the typical sheepfolds. 💜

If you are looking for a beautiful place in The Netherlands to relax and get away from the daily hustle. Then you definitely want to consider visiting Drenthe province. Enjoy the pictures

A real nice national park.if you are there it feels like you are not in Holland. Discovering this place is best by bicycle. The bicycle path that crosses the field through the middle of dwingelderveld is just amazing to do. On the far right of the field there is a bird watch station. The bicycle trail that runs there is very beautiful. It was named most beautiful bicycle path in 2017. You can definitely cover the whole area by bike in day. This park is definitely worth a visit when you are around.

Beautiful park to take a long or short walk. The woods are really quiet and amazing in summer time, and the heather with nothing but sky above makes for a most impressive view.

Amazing place to walk for hours and hours. Lot of trails available. Even nice place to bike. Though it's mention closed, it was still possible to access it. Bad that except for sheep's we couldn't see any animals. There is also forest around the marshlands.

Lovely area for walks, both long and short. There's an atb route, bicycle paths and a wheelchair accessible route that includes wheelchair accessible picnic tables.

This is a very fine place for nature lovers. They sell local products, as biological ice cream and cookies. Also books and Jam and honey. Self service choco and coffee and thea. Free maps for a 4,5 km walk are friendly provided. Excellent.

A simply stunning national park- vast and empty spaces that are hard to find in the Netherlands, tranquil, with deep, natural forests. Highly recommended.

A nice place for some walks with the dog ( mostly on the leash ) but not as impressive as De Hooge Veluwe for example. But it sure is the best spot for night sky watching.. a superb spot for that actually.

In my opinion one of the most beautiful natural parks you can visit in the Netherlands. This "natte heide gebied" is the biggest in the world and truly amazing to behold. I would recommend renting a bike, or tandem, if you're adventurous, and take a tour on one (or multiple) of the many bike routes available. Check out the Natuurmonumenten nature centre for more information.
