I really love this destination you can spend a solid week here and not see everything 😅, really recommended to hire or bring your own bike and cycle around the island. There are a lot of things to do, canou in the berkenplas, watch birds at the westerplas go to the kobbeduinen and look at all the beautiful scenery, go to the beach and a lot more things to name. Some places you just have to see. Really recommend to go here.

What an amazing island to visit. The route will take you to the most northern coast of the Netherlands, at the north sea. Enjoy the dunes, forest or pure Dutch landscapes on your bicycle. Recommended for all travelers.

Schiermonnikoog ([ˌsxiːrmɔnəkˈoːx] (About this sound listen); West Frisian: Skiermûntseach) is an island, a municipality, and a national park in the northern Netherlands. Schiermonnikoog is one of the West Frisian Islands, and is part of the province of Friesland. It is situated between the islands of Ameland and Rottumerplaat.

The island is 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) long and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) wide and is the site of the Netherlands' first national park. The only village on the island is also called Schiermonnikoog. Just around 946 people permanently reside on the island, making the municipality both the least populated and the least densely populated in the Netherlands. Because the island is small and flat, only 200 islanders have taken out the special licence allowing them to keep their own car, with the result that the few streets are virtually car-free.

Up to 300,000 people visit the island every year, staying in the 5,500 beds available in holiday homes, apartments and hotels. Most visitors, however, are day trippers (about 4,000/day in July and August alone), with the result that after the last ferry leaves at 6.30pm, calm returns to Langestreek, the village high street.

Great quiet small Island, nice for cycling walking and relaxing.

Une île magnifique. Des paysages naturels préservés, des plages immenses et surtout plein d’animaux (beaucoup de canards!)
À arpenter en vélo (que l’on peut louer directement sur l’île). A savoir qu’une navette - payante - relie directement le ferry jusqu’au village.

Pour les amoureux du calme, de la nature, de la faune et de longues balades à pieds ou à velo. C'est un endroit à visiter, vous ne pouvez être déçu ! Seul pu en famille, c'est top !

In 2022 voor het eerst op Schier geweest, zowel in de voorjaars- als de zomervakantie. Wat een mooi eiland! Het is zeker de lange rit vanuit Maastricht waard. We zijn sneller van hier uit in Parijs dan op Schier. Heerlijke weidsheid in combinatie met ongecompliceerde gastvrijheid maken dat we een nieuwe vaste reisbestemming op ons wensenlijstje hebben staan.
