Fantastic experience. The 7-course dinner was a big surprise. Great and surprising combinations paired with good wines. If you are a fan of fine dining, I would truly recommend!

Excellent and very tasty food. All courses are very well elaborate. The combination with ingredients is perfect. I highly recommend this place for a nice evening in Schiermonnikoog. Service is also perfect.

My family and I stayed here recently for two days and it was probably one of the nicest places we ever stayed. We were allowed to have our dog who was fully accommodated by the staff, the food was absolutely incredible, and whenever we had any problems the staff helped us out. My brother is a celiac and so he couldn't eat the food there, but the kitchen still wanted to heat the food he brought with him and offered that he could join them in the kitchen and supervise. He ended up not feeling like this was necessary because the head chef knew everything about his condition already and how to handle the kitchen properly to prevent cross contamination. I've never felt compelled to write a review before but our experience here was really special, we are definitely coming back! The kindest hotel and kitchen staff I've ever met.

I've got coeliac disease so restaurants are always a tricky business (i.e. I never actually try them), but this chef has my full confidence and immediately knew what had to be done! The service was also extremely helpful with the condition. As for the suite: Very nice - annoyingly better wifi than back home

Location is at the entrance of the village in a quiet area. Terasses all around the restaurant / ice bar with lots of comfortable places. So when the sun is shining or not, you can pick your best spot, or stay inside. The view from the front terras is beautiful, because of the old houses across the street, some dating back from half 18th century.. I stayed for a drink. On several tables, in large baskets, really nice apples were offered for free to be taken by the guests. Additionally, inside more free fruit, really delicious plums, were made available as well. Besides nice plates for lunch and dinner, there is a large selection of local - from the island- ice cream. The coffee was enough and okay, though not the best. We were looking for the best restaurant on Schiermonnikoog to treat my parents, and Ambrosijn appeared to be a reasonable contestant.
We had dinner here for a party of 4. Two people ordered the discovery menu and two had the surprise menu. Complementary appetisers were provided, consisting small servings of hearty corn soup, a soft boiled quail egg with horseradish and octopus ink, and some other home made snacks.
The 3 course surprise menu was a starter of marinated raw tuna, an intermission of periwinkles, a main course of frisian cow filet, and a dessert of white chocolate cake with ice cream.
The discovery menu had a starter of a fennel soup with dorado and mussels, a main course of sea bass with local vegetables, and a dessert of home made vanilla cream and ice cream.
Each dish was accompanied by local vegetables and fitting sauces.

For drinks, in addition to water, we had some Hungarian white wine which fit well with the fish, and a glass of South African Muscadel dessert wine at the end of the meal.
Everything was very tasty and the staff was very helpful and professional. We were only a bit uncertain how to peel and eat the quail egg without making too much of a mess.
Overall this was a very pleasant experience and our feeling was also that it was very good value for money.
The whole meal took us 2.5 hours including appetizers and 3 courses (altogether 7 different food servings per person) considering the variety of served food this seemed fine, waits between dishes did not seem long, and would not want it to go faster at a restaurant unless I am in a particular hurry.
I will remember this meal and can recommend Ambrosijn wholeheartedly.

Very nice restaurant. We had an amazing three course dinner with only local products. The hotel suits were OK. Unfortunately they forgot our ordered breakfast. The hotel suits were clean, spacious and very comfortable.

Lovely staff, lovely beers, my favourite here is the Omer, traditional blond!

They also have live music playing here from time to time.
