A landmark of the Dutch’s incredible engineering. And the beaches are fabulous. Bring a bicycle and enjoy the view. But be careful, it is quite windy !

Before going there you should check the wind direction, as it can be quite hard to pedal against the wind. ;)

You can ride a bicycle on top of the polder and it has many bicycle parking spaces as well so you can walk to the see and enjoy the view of the sea and the barrier

The view of Wild western north sea is amazing from here. Very beautiful place to visit, especially for Civil Engineer's. This huge structure is even called as the eight wonder of the world. I felt that the saying, "God created the world, but the Dutch created the Netherlands", is totally true after visiting Hydraulic structure.

A master of modern engineering ….. definitely worth a visit if your into your engineering. You can cycle across and stop to look down at the barriers.

A true marvel of engineering, open for public traffic and sightseeing. This dam keeps the south west region safe in high tide situations, yet provides sufficient flow to keep marine life intact. Shutters can be lowered in position to fully close off the Oosterschelde. The island Neeltje-Jans (previously the construction site for the dam) is home to the central command station (concrete build). A left-over (spare) pillar can be seen on the island as well, giving an idea of the size of the supporting structure beneath the road surface.

Amazing and so impressive. The drive of the dutch to ensure that the tragedy of 1953 was never repeated and build it was amazing!
