A great family outing, so many animals to see. Although I'm not a fan of animals in an enclosure, these animals seem well taken care of and look happy. Do buy tickets in advance as you could get a discount on the website. Pathways are well maintained, perhaps not ideal for walking with a pram when it rains as they turn fairly muddy. 2 large play areas for all age kids, with nice food stands and restaurant. Would highly recommend

The zoo was a little pricy, but seeing the animals made the cost worthwhile! You can tell the zoo staff really cares about them and the animals seem happy. We got to see the Humboldt penguins, kangaroos, and lemurs up close and it was breathtaking. My personal favorites were the agouti (green rodents) and the raccoons, who liked hiding in wooden barrels. I appreciated how accessible the zoo was - I used a wheelchair and had no trouble seeing every exhibit.

A good place to relax and enrich knowledge with children, I recommend it. There are few large animals (one tiger, several polar bears, deer), but all the fences look organic, there are also playgrounds for small children and older ones, locations with food and drinks, you can celebrate a birthday. Lego lovers will definitely like the animal figures, the coral reef ecosystem and others.

Super fun place to go for a short zoo visit. This won’t take you all day but it’s worth a trip when in the area. The new tigers are super nice!

I would give milion stars if I could. The best ZOO we have ever been too. The habitats were amazing, spacious and animals looked really comfortable and happy in them :) one thing that was missing were English translations and more options in the restaurant and bufet. We are definitely visiting again :)

Its a Great place to be with your friends, family, kids. I would say better than some of the biggest zoo. Good thing - you can watch some of the animals very closely . your half day is easily went out here. cafe is small but good. i would say if you are near by you can consider going out here. the zoo mainly accommodates aquatic creatures like beavers, sea-lions and polar bears, it also cares for land animals including tapirs, snowy owls, and wallabies.

Beautiful but tiny zoo. Lots to see and do for smaller children. I was hoping for some more aquaria. It is mostly outdoors.

The zoo has aged very well, unlike some other zoos in the netherlands. One of the few in our country that has some penguins walking between visitors, which can be quite entertaining.

It's one of those parks where you don't worry about the animals being in bad habitats at all.

Lovely terrain with animals in large, nice enclosures that seem well cared for.
I was especially excited about the beavers, otters (large and small) and the capybaras.

What a nice zoo! We felt immersed in nature with the animals. Our favourites were the polar bear, racoons, goats and seals. Animals were in general very energetic and playful. The park was well organized, clean, food was nice as well! Definitely a must visit in Leeuwarden.

Aquazoo Friesland is absolutely worth every penny! This place is just perfect for everyone of all ages! They absolutely manage to create a genuine free forest ambiance where it feels as if the animals are in their own habitats without feeling locked up. It feels as if you're in their homes instead of the other way around. Not to mention the playgrounds, snackbars and other facilities. Would definitely recommend to all!
One thing to consider though is that they don't accept Visa cards so be aware to bring cash.

If you visit Leeuwarden in Friesland together or with family, you might as well go here.
I admit this zoo isn't a big one like we all see on TV or what we are used to but the variety of animals they have makes it worth a visit.

Their latest addition are the tigers complete with multilingual info about the tigers.
Another place to mention is the seal habitat. Believe it or not but they swim and live freely in (fenced in) local water. A completely natural lake with a small beach and plenty of space.

This zoo is also well catered to children with multiple play areas and some off-road paths with different jungle themed elements to cross over muddy pathways and small streams of water (mostly puddles).

As I write this they currently have a dinosaur theme going on with multiple known and some unknown species placed throughout the park with info about when and where they lived.

In short I recommend going here at least once if you are close-by or have planned to visit somewhere near the zoo. It's a nice small zoo with a healthy variety of animals and a perfect visit for everyone.

Nice zoo in a green recreational area just outside town. For all ages, with otters, red panda's, polar bears, crocodiles, fish and birds. Also rowing pond and playgrounds.
