Castle Doorwerth

I love this castle. Even thought it's probably not the most beautiful castle in the region but it has it's vibe and it's very educational.

I would love to come back when my son is older so he could enjoy it more.

I would recommend to visit especially if you have a museum card.

P.S. There is a very beautiful forest near by with very nice tracking possibilities.

Beautiful castle, self guided tours, pictures are allowed, they have some cool period clothing to try on.

Did you know this Castle is haunted? The owner of the castle won a duel with a man who was engaged to another woman, and he ultimately won the hand of the women. Unfortunately, the woman killed him during their honeymoon night and he is now a permanent, ghostly resident.

Buying a ticket gives access to the castle and a great deal of information on the history of the building and it various owners, as well as access to a multitude of furnished rooms and others with displays and historic items... They tell of the highs and lows of living in this castle for the last 600 years.

Hidden inside the castle is a museum Veluwezoom with art of the Dutch artist Koekkoek, who made interesting landscape paintings (pictures taken of his art are zoomed-in, not entire paintings).

The castle has a small giftshop and a large cafe that has rather higher than normal prices for refreshments and food.

As it is a castle, it isn't friendly for the mobility impaired, however, for children it is a great experience as their is a moat, steep, winding steps, and even ancient knights in shining armor.

A cozy and charming castle. Beautiful surroundings. Professional service. Cafe, restaurant, gift shop. The perfect place for Sunday rest.

The most comfortable and nice castle 🏰 that I have ever seen! So great atmosphere and good exhibition makes you like being in the century of great conquests.

We cycled there along the Rhine, the grandchildren enjoyed the castle especially the maid in the kitchen explaining the how it was a few hundred years ago.

Beautiful castle located near the city of Arnhem. You can take a nice walk through the forrest and walk around the castle. It’s also nice to go with your family and kids.

I visitted this castle only to take pictures of it with no actual visit. There is a very nice parking lot just beside it and a wonderful path all around the castle with benches to enjoy. The castle is in great condition and nearby there is even a great viewing point in the forest.

Cool castle you can arrive by car or bike. You can stay outside and go to the garden or visit the castle instead. Totally recommended. There's also a cafe inside.

Very nice castle 🏰 Nice unguided tour. Set your own pace. You get a great castle feel. And a good idea how the castle was used through the centuries. The cafe is nice too. Good food and nice staff. And there are many great hikes and bike trails going to and from the castle. Through the near-by forests or by the the river Rijn. A nice day! 👍🏽⚔🗡🏹🛡🗝

With a Museum card definitely worth the visit, a lot of interesting and descriptive rooms. The bar/cafe location has an ancient vibe, loved it.

Really nice castle, including a museum on the nature and history of the region. Very nice herb and flower garden. Free parking just outside. Accepts the Dutch Museum Card.

It is a very nice castle with a green surrounding. They have English descriptions about what you see in each room. staff were helpful and friendly

Beautiful little castle. It is the perfect place for a nice walk or a date. The surrounding woods are beautiful and the castle itself has a lot of exciting stories to tell. There's apparently also a tour inside but that is something I still have to do.

Medieval moated castle on the Rhine. Near Arnhem, the site of a massacre of Allied forces in operation Market Garden in 1944 occupied Netherlands ( "a bridge too far"). Visit the city and the castle.
