The Cape Forests

Beautiful forest walks for sunny autumn Sunday.
There is a restaurant by the parking zone.

Great place to see Autumn colors. Good option for trail running as well, with 5k and 10k trails. We parked in the second parking lot on the left side from Doorn, right before the recreational park (see pictures).

Great place for a walk in the woodlands. We did the 5km loop. There is also a 9km loop.

This is one of the few forestry areas in the Netherlands that attracts a lot of people also tourists. It's beautiful, calm, and clean. If you are the outdoors person looking to take a nice walk and then be able to relax in a Cafe and enjoy a brunch, this would be a great choice. It's pretty big and the national parks stretches out in a vast area. It's great for biking or hiking. In the winter it gets really nice too. There is also a 25 meter tower in the middle which you can go in and get a view of the whole area

Great place to walk through the forests, though some of the walking routes could use a bit better signs, but you will not get lost, don't worry. (shame that eventhough in lockdown times you can still here cars driving by).

Beautiful area

De weg er naar toe is al leuk! Je komt de autosnelweg af en je bent opeens in een hele andere wereld. Je hebt een aantal mooie routes, voor ieder wat. Bij elke route is de uitkijktoren toch wel echt het hoogtepunt. Wij hebben kunnen genieten van heel veel rode paddenstoelen. Wat ik ook leuk vind is het restaurant, vaak toch nog zin in wat lekkers of een warm drankje en dat kan hier voordat je weer naar huis gaat. Echt een aanrader!

Mooie omgeving. Op de toren is het een prachtig uitzicht in de herfst. Veel paddestoelen te vinden.

De Kaapse Bossen zijn prachtig, elk seizoen. Heerlijk en rustig wandelen. Lunch of koffie bij St Chalet Helenaheuvel en je hebt een geweldige dag!

Rust en veel groen! Het is leuk om even op Wikipedia op te zoeken waar de naam Kaapse bossen vandaan komt. Dat zal ik hier niet verklappen.
Er zijn diverse wandelroutes en sommige lopen langs de uitkijktoren. Die toren is zeker aan te raden maar het is wel een fiks aantal treden, hou daar rekening mee. Een mooi gebied!

Wat een prachtig oud bos is dit, heel fijn dat de hond ook zoveel los mag (honden die goed luisteren naar de baas uiteraard). De zandkuil is naast het restaurant een goede plek om je hond de nodige beweging te gunnen.

Heerlijk om hier te vertoeven!

Prachtig bos met veel oude bomen. Ik vond het wel heel druk in vergelijking met andere bossen.
