Impressive, remarkable place, nature, architecture and a long and interesting history.
Please note that access to the buildings is only possible as a participant during specific events (the venue is for hire, however lots of nature preservation constraints) or joining an organized tour by volunteer-guides of 'Staatsbosbeheer'

A beautiful art-deco style building from 1929, which was a former radio transmission station with a big antenna mesh around it. The radio is not there anymore in the building and also the antenna has gone but you can still ad some specific dates see the beautiful building and its architecture from the inside. There you will be able to see information about the history of the building and it’s functions throughout time. Currently it is also available for venues and often used as a filming location for movies (like the 2004 Mindhunters) or television series (e.g. Arcadia). It is located in a freely accessible nature reserve and there is plenty of parking.

We enjoyed hiking around this area and we visited Radio Kootwijk, known for its iconic radio transmitter. Built in the middle of Kootwijkzand by architect Julius Luthmann. The station was built in 1918 for communication between the Netherlands and the former colonies. Situated in a heather and forest in the Veluwe region. A nice place to visit and enjoy this historical landmark.

Historical-cultural monument, Dutch art deco, a functional structure that is not devoid of decorative elements. A fascinating tour of a beautiful nature reserve.

Fantastic piece of technological, architectural and colonial history, in the middle of the (almost car-free) Veluwe, well connected with bicycle paths

Impressive and beautiful art deco building from 1923 with an amazing patterned tile floor in the main hall.

Tip: If you have the chance visit one of the guided tours to see the inside 😍

Impressive building, reminding the visitor about the colonial history of the Netherlands as well as the history of telecommunications. It can be reached by scenic cycling routes and near the entrance a pond with newts and other amphibians can be found.

Fantastic Art Deco building on a very unexpected place (basically in the middle of nowhere. ) worth a visit, there are great biking tracks to get there but you can also get there by car. It’s not always open, so if you want to see the inside check their schedule.

Very nice architecture. Sad story that it's no longer being used a radio station.

Build in 1918 one of the most suggestive places in the Netherlands. Radio communication between the Netherlands and the colonies in Indonesia.

Actually nice place. It was pretty quiet when I was there except some loud visitors but you can't complain about that. People go out there mostly with the bike, it's a good 1.5 to 2 hours ride from Arnhem Centraal train station. Don't know if you can visit the inside of the building but it was closed at that moment. The environment however is beautiful and it's great for a nice day out. There's a cafe at the entrance so you can get some refreshments.

Great place for contemplation. I was there when it was closed and there were no any other people, only the deserty nature park around. The building is really impressive.

Beautiful spot! Don't forget to look in de pond right next to the building! Frogs, toads, newts and water insects in plenty. Sadly the European viper is in steep decline in this region...

Amazing place - I went there because indian freedom fighters used the radio station in 1940s. But I did not realize how massive and beautiful the structure is until I was in front of it. It's probably the biggest art deco structure bi have seen. The tower is also very very impressive. The walking trail around the structure is beautiful. You can easily spend 4 to 5 hours over there. It's haunted and at night creatures come out. But they stay within the structure. In 1972 a UFO crashed here. The dutch government hides the spaceship inside the building. In 1975 aliens came to rescue their ship and dutch government killed them.

From Summer sunrises to winter sunset's experience breathtaking walks as well as official bicycle trails throughout the forest reserve.
Wild life experiences amounts others, include red deer lookout points, fox, a variety of migrating birds, the resident wild boar families. A must see in spring, in their stripped pajamas.
