Yokohama Ramen Saito

Venturing into Yokohama Saito Ramen in Schiedam transported me to the heart of Japan. The compact space, complete with an open kitchen, imbued the ambiance with a truly authentic Japanese vibe. The impeccable cleanliness of the kitchen only heightened the sense of dining in Japan.

I sampled the New Tantan Spicy Salt, a dish that left a lasting impression with its delicious flavors. My friend tried the Tonkotsu Tsukemen and raved about the exceptional dipping sauce, which was unlike anything they had tasted in the Netherlands. The Pork Char Siu Bowl, which my friend also tried, was an affordable yet high-quality dish that was both flavorful and satisfying. We also tried Chicken Dumpling, which were just okay compated to other exceptional dishes.

While the welcoming tea was decent but not particularly special, the overall food and dining experience at Yokohama Saitu Ramen was truly enjoyable. The staff were helpful and kind, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. It's a place I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine in the Netherlands.

It’s the best ramen I’ve eaten in the Netherlands so far. The Pork Miso is the best in my opinion, I never order anything else anymore. The owner is a great Japanese dude who gets his wheat for the ramen from one of the local windmills.

Pro tip: go early or a bit late to skip the line outside. They don’t sell alcohol, but you can get a beer from the store across the street 👍🏻🍻

This place has to be one of the best ramen shops I have been to , feels very authentic with great ambiance. I highly recommend it I had the soy tonkusu spicy. you might find yourself waiting in line but it is definitely worth the wait !!

Hands down one of the best ramen spots I've ever been to. Very authentic and delicious miso ramen. Also very friendly crew. The owner was so nice he gave us gyoza and extra tonkatsu topping for free. Also they have free flow roasted tea which is great. Would highly recommend. 👍

First of all, the boss (maybe Saito San?) is soooooo friendly. I am a socially awkward person so usually when I enter or leave the restaurant I won’t even greet at people… but the boss whenever a client comes in or leaves, he always takes the lead and greet warmly.
Also, he makes sure to ask the clients near the kitchen area if the food is okay. Aw🥹

Obviously I wouldn’t give such high score only for the friendliness. The ramen and tsukemen is soo goood. Personally I prefer tsukemen because I love salty broth.

What I love the most is the noodles 🍜 very chewy, perfect texture (maybe because they are freshly made? But I have never had some similar like this)

Lastly, the pricing is reasonable compared to other shops.
So highly recommend this shop to anyone that visits Schiedam or even nearby cities. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Btw, if you buy the frozen ramen kit, the noodles are still chewy (shocking right? I am crying/screaming in the background)

Absolutely the best ramen I've had in the Netherlands. Generous portion for a good price and the gyoza were good as well. Fast and friendly service by the staff too.

You don’t need a lot of fancy things to make a delicious bowl of Ramen. The noodles are firm and delicious and they only have tonkotsu broth. The the meal is very balanced, because they are good at making that one bowl of ramen. Also it doesn’t hurt that the prices are very low and they even give you complementary drinks. A real authentic experience but in Schiedam!

I’m from East Asia and this is by far the best ramen I ever have. You can taste that the broth has no rubbish additives and everything was cooked to a perfect standard. Not one second too short or long. Highly recommended.

At first glance, this restaurant may seem inconspicuous from the outside, if not for the ever-present queue of hungry customers who are clearly in the know that this is the place to be. Due to its popularity, the wait can sometimes be a bit longer than you're accustomed to, but rest assured; the experience is well worth it!

Stepping inside, you're instantly transported to Japan, as if the Netherlands were a distant memory – that is, until you catch a glimpse of the weather outside. The open kitchen, complete with a table for observing the meticulous preparation of each bowl, showcases a tidy and well-maintained space. Toshimi Saito, the Japanese chef and owner, takes evident care in every aspect, from the ingredients to the chefs assisting him.

As we enjoyed our Gyoza and Miso Tonkotsu accompanied by complimentary cold tea, we had the pleasure of exchanging a few words with the diligent chef. It turns out that he uses flour from one of the windmills in Schiedam to craft his homemade noodles. The broth, his own secret recipe, proved irresistible – I found myself slurping up every last drop, a rare occurrence for me. The taste was simply exceptional. ほんとう に おいしい です!

I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and will undoubtedly persuade my friends to dine there once again during my next visit. (PS: If you're fortunate, you might leave with an empty flour bag for your cat's amusement. Our three kitties were absolutely ecstatic that evening!)

Delicious ramen
One of the best ramen. Creamy, tasty, really well prepared. The choice is between not too many variants and in the menu you'll find mainly ramen but that s fine for a ramen restaurant. The staff is kind and friendly, the place is not the fanciest but quite cozy and familiar. No alcool is sold but there are 0% beers and free homemade tea.

This place is amazing. I am by no means a ramen connoisseur, but can safely say this is the best broth (vegetarian) I’ve had in the Netherlands. Ramen texture is chewy, and are delicious. The owner / cook is an amazingly friendly person with a big smile on his face whilst cooking. Will definitely come back here for a bowl !! :)

The restaurant has a snackbar vibe, like grabbing something quick and moving on. The food, however, is very good.
It's a nice touch that the flour for the ramen comes from a local wind mill.

Absolutely delighted to have finally tried this place. It blew me out of the water! The broth is so rich in flavor, the noodles are handmade with care and have the best springy ramen texture, and the charsiu is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I ordered the miso tonkotsu. I also love all the condiments they have on the tables and the kitschy decor. This place deserves 10/10!
