Stumbled upon this by chance, really glad we did,it’s a lovely slice of history and one man’s vision and collection of medieval art and artefacts.
Included in the price is a guided tour of the tower which is certainly worth the climb up the narrow stairs.

Fantastic castle. Working time was untill 16:30 so we have not managed to get inside but still being outside was impresive. There us a cafe with good offer of food and beer

Wow!!! I didn't expect to see here such a great collection of the middle ages art. The castle itself very beautiful, so don't forget to take camera.
They also have a special audio guide with tasks (from 8 y.o.) for children.

Very nice town and castle to visit. One of the oldest in The Netherlands. Very interesting history, especially for people interested in old coins, as it used to be owned by the family that also ran the local Mint, which is across the street. Also the place where a witch was condemned to death in the Middle Ages, which was a rare event in The Netherlands. From here it is a short drive to where the Rhine River enters The Netherlands. Worth a visit. Oh, and did I mention they brew their own beers there? Worth a try!

Nice old castle with an exhibition of medieval art. You can get a (free) tour of the tower with some very nice views and a visit to the weapons room. Beautiful garden as well.

What a stunning place to visit. The castle is located near the Dutch/German border in a beautiful surrounding. The castle harbours a fantastic collection, gathered by the Van Heek family.

If you love ancient buildings, history, paintings and antique, you should place the castle on your to visit list.

Very nice place. The castle was unfortunately closed due to covid, but there is a park around it where you can take a walk, and during a nice fay, it's very pleasant

Beautiful place to visit. Maximum 20 places free parking on the left side of the castle.

Visited today with three children. We did the Ridderslag tour. It was great 😁. We all had to dress up in period costume and then under the supervision of a guide we role-played a "typical" scenario of the time. I would definitely recommend it - as long as you don't mind a bit of wife swapping 😉

Great well-maintained castle with rich history. Free admission with Dutch Museum card. We visited the castle at the end of the day and did not need to book our tickets in advance.

You can take the audio tour or the guided tour for the best experience. If you go slow, It could take between 1 - 2 hours max to enjoy the collection and main building.

Lovely castle. The staff who works there are friendly and helpful. They remembered us and got us an English explanation.

Lovely castle, with lots of beautiful paintings and interesting stories.

Every whole hour there's a tour of the tower where the climb is rewarded with great views. The painting collection on view is very nice. There are a lot of "copies after" but also lots of nice early portraits and religious works.

Our children really enjoyed the kids tour this summer, where they (& us parents 😅) could dress like "real knights" & "real princesses" before discovering the castle and all of its hidden passages! And afterwards could try out "real crossbows".
Suggested age for the children < 10 year old.

The self guided audio tour is actually pretty neat and gives you the time you need to listen about the pieces at your own pace. I definitely appreciated it, as did my fiance. He and I enjoyed our visit and hopefully will be visiting again in the future!

Beautiful location, shame it was being renovated when I came by, but the inside still is very beautiful.

The service of the cafe is great, so is the coffee and the food.
Everything tasted like it was made in-house.

Impressive and stunning castle, we got a discount entry for €10 and it was definitely worth a visit inside which includes going up the tower and getting a view of the grounds and surrounding town from the top. Would be a beautiful wedding venue with the courtyard, moat and gardens next to it.
