De Sint Theresiakerk in de Lennisheuvel te Boxtel is nog niet zo'n heel oude kerk, niet zoals de St Petruskerk. Hij is wel eigendom van dezelfde parochie, de Heilig Hart Parochie. De bijna 90 jaar oude Theresiakerk in Lennisheuvel in het centrum van Lennisheuvel is gebouwd in opdracht van pastoor Arnoldus Manders naar ontwerp van de Maastrichtse architect J. van Groenendaal. Tot 13 juni 1926 was Arnoldus Manders kapelaan in de parochie St. Jans Onthoofding te Liempde. Maar al in het voorjaar van 1925 was hij door de bisschop gevraagd de stichting van de nieuwe parochie in Lennisheuvel voor te bereiden. Toen was ook al de naam bekend. Na ampel beraad besloot de toenmalige kerkcommissie de in 1925 heilig verklaarde 'Kleine H. Theresia van Lisieux' als patrones van de nieuwe parochie te kiezen.
In oktober 1925 werd de eerste steen gelegd door kanunnik Mgr. J.P. van den Heuvel, rustend priester op Duinendaal. Op Woensdag 30 juni 1926 werd de St.-Theresiakerk door deken Mgr. M. van Oss plechtig ingezegend. Daarna droeg de kort daarvoor benoemde pastoor Manders, tezamen met pastoor Spierings en pastoor Eras uit Boxtel zijn eerste H. Mis in Lennisheuvel op.

About Boxtel
Municipality in the Netherlands

Boxtel is a municipality and a town in the southern Netherlands. The name derives from Buchestelle and is presumably a combination of 'stelle' and buck. This is the origin of the Van Boxtel family, which has numerous descendants in North Brabant. The town was the site of the Battle of Boxtel fought in September 1794 during the Flanders campaign. It is often principally remembered as the first battle of the future Duke of Wellington. source
