Discover bits and pieces of Nigerian history by strolling through the corridors of The Discovery Museum. I had an overall amazing experience of the museum which offers an historic & up-to-date vibe to its visitors. The museum is beautifully decorated & reflects the Nigerian traditions; both past & present. I was absolutely mesmerized by the works of art in the museum. There are different rooms which depict the architecture and lifestyle of different eras in history. There are enormous colourful canvas, amazing sculptures, and also a multimedia and audio room available guests to "tune" down history lane.
Open Monday - Sundays.
Entry fee 5,500 for adults

Well to my knowledge this place is not really where old things are been kept

I thought that what's a museum is meant to be

What I saw was more of our old leaders pictures and their history written

My expectation was high so I thought I will see real-old sculptures from ancient times

Most of the sculpture are fake

This place is just good for pictures and to read a little history just for sight seeing

This place was so amazing. The ambience, everything about it was top-notch.
As at the time of my visit, it was 6000 for a tour.
The attendants at the entrance were really nice and had huge smiles, shared a joke of two with us too.

I loved the cavey feel.. red mud and lamps… It gave village vibes lol.
They had VR sessions, and my best part of this place was the Music room, I had goosebumps.

Surreal experience. Specifically enjoyed the inclusion of digital art and overall digital experience.
There’s a tour guide to put you through the journey - in case you have questions also. The VR experience was lovely - love the mix of art and tech. Although my movie stopped midway, it was still worth the try.
There’s a book room. If you’re a book lover - particularly African literature, you’ll find this place nostalgic. Same experience you’ll feel in the music room showing the evolution of music in Nigeria. It stops at 2010 - so nothing for Wizkid haha.
There’s like an eco-something or environment room. It’s beautiful when quiet. I was able to experience it alone before others joined. Loved it.

The wait time is crazy though. I went on a Saturday so probably my fault. They move in batches of 6. I was scheduled for the 3pm batch at around 2:15. At time, it was rescheduled to 3:15. We went in almost 3:30. By the time I entered, I’m sure there were up to three batches waiting outside. They were quite a lot. The staff were kind to explain that they maintain traffic inside the building; so they’d rather people outside wait briefly than rush people inside - such that they may not fully enjoy the experience they paid for. I understand. Pro-tip, instead of waiting outside, perhaps hang around at Lagos Bistro beside the museum? There was a match going on, so it was easy to blend in for me.
Overall, it was a wholesome experience. Highly recommend.

Discovery Museum, Abuja is quite an interesting place to go to with family and friends.
It has an array of educative and entertaining games to learn and play with.
The museum has different rooms for historical stories and music from years ago….history I wish was still taught in Nigerian schools. I was filled with nostalgia going through the different rooms. There are mini studios and theatres too, it’s quite entertaining I must say.
There are three different restaurants there to dine in….it’s a full package.
