I finally had the time to visit Krate Cafe after hearing so much about it and wow it did not disappoint!
We loved the vibes, the people, the art and of course the FOOD!

There weren't a lot of lunch menu choices (mainly sandwiches and and desserts for tea time) and it was relatively out of town but parking was easy and we came during the weekday so it was pretty chill.

We tried their famous scones and carrot cake, they were delicious!

We ordered the bagel and Big Brunch and sourdough grilled cheese. We loved the marinara sauce that came with it. The smoked duck bagel was really good too. And we had their recommended caramel ice latte, and their honey passionfruit tea.

I loved the idea of a community art cafe, and the staffs were all so friendly and apparently they are also in the shows they produce!
Should definitely visit if you're in Melaka.

First time in Krate and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The Big Brunch is to die for. IT WAS THE BEST KIND OF FOOD TO KICK START AN AMAZING DAY!!! The service we received was friendly with the staff recommending their menu in detail. The ambiance is very welcoming and you must check out all the art and craft around the cafe. We will definitely be back again.

My Weekend stop for my bagel coffee and carrot cake, great space for kids.
Delicious pastries.
Staff is warm and attentive.
Calming home feeling relaxing atmosphere.
Far from the city centre, but definitely worth it.

It's quite a late review, but I finally took the time to write about this small cafe, which I didn't even know existed in my area! I went with my bestie for a tea date. We tried blueberry scones, a cup of hot passion fruit tea, and honey lemon tea. It was yummy! Amazing atmosphere and staff. It's a pet-friendly cafe, which really amazes me. Highly recommended! There is a much-needed cafe around this area, so we won't have to go to town, especially on weekends, to enjoy the scones, canels, and other food items. I will definitely return here again to try out other items, especially the vegan chocolate cake (I have been wanting to try that). Thank you for opening a wonderful cafe here in Bukit Beruang!

Ordered a few Christmas boxsets from Krate Cafe as gifts.

It was easy to communicate what I wanted about the messages and delivery details. The boxsets looked lovely and pretty and were perfect as gifts.

Also, the scones and canele were delicious as always.

The show was very unique and interactive and does have a great mystery plot.
There is definitely great suspense in solving the mystery of the missing diamond.
Actors and actresses are really good in their acting !!
The feeling you get from walking into the different rooms of the baba house museum brings you back to the history of the culture of Peranakans when the story is also based on the real life struggles of the different rules of keeping up the family name and how decisions in marriage is made , how maids are treated etc.
I have huge admiration of the script writer of this play as she was able to reenact what real life drama occurs in the different Peranakan homes and added elements of humour and suspense in her creative story!
It’s definitely an hour well spent on being educated and entertained by a talented and creative group called Krate !! Well done!

💎The Case of the Missing Diamond💎
I have to say they’re real passionate people! Salute to all the crews, you guys are awesome!
Loving the show as it was really different & fun , u get to interact with the characters, is not just listen to their stories but u were in the story too. I really like how the characters really interact with u ,ckp2 at the party + kinda happy to be chosen to join the inspectors to investigate the store room , is pretty fun , all this tiny little things suddenly make u feel like part of it instead of just going there to watch a show & make u able to understand the story more . Everyone from young to old enjoy the experience so much ,especially the three Nyonya haha (Mdm CHONG ! have to purposely mention her so she have face & happy hahaha) & the ma jie is so cute too haha. Thank for putting so much effort in the show krate team , even those behind the scenes 🙏 Good storyline too. The location at the Baba Nyonya museum is a plus point too as u can really feel & emerge in the ambiance . Special thank to the crews who talk and welcome us at the entrance , they were so into character even before the show start , ala2 warm up , if there a second show , count me in 😜 ! Can’t wait for your next show 😊

Got their high tea set, and oh my God it tasted great! It was my first time here so I wanted to try most of the things on their menu so we got this set. Their scones are heavenly. The sweet and buttery pastry tasted so good! Their cheese cake has such a strong flavour (some people might not like the strong taste) and their brownies are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

Overall I highly recommend this cafe! The owner is super friendly and sat down and chat with us after I asked about their unique cafe concept of combining art workshop and a cafe!

This will definitely be on my list everytime I pass by melaka for a visit!

Update: 6/2/22
Came back for a visit since after MCO, their scones are still insanely great! Please order in advance if you wish to take away. They sell their scones quite quickly!

The young & creative minds of the cast of “The Case of the Missing Diamonds” definitely boosted Melaka’s Peranakan Heritage through the arts. An immersive theatre play, set within an old Peranakan home lent authenticity and ambiance to the play. The props, role-playing and audience involvement made the entire experience a special & unforgettable one.

👍👍👍We had a wonderful time at the Baba Nyonya museum, case of the missing diamond 💎
We must compliment the casts for putting up such an awesome Performance. All of them did a fantastic job. Keep up the good work n keep peranakan culture alive.
It's our first experience with immersive live theatre and everyone enjoyed it so much.

Efforts such as this should be supported and hopefully there is more to come.

The food especially the scones are the best in melaka. We love the carrot cake and their sourdough sandwiches. Coffee is great too. Their service is amazing, you should definitely try. Great job Krate!❤

Stumbled upon Krate cafe while looking for a space for my baby’s 1st birthday celebration. Love the cosy vibe and how my baby and the other kids are able to spend time playing with the toys there while we enjoy our meal. We engaged in their batik painting workshop and western food package . The food was more of a light meal as we have a huge amount of guests. And space was abit crowded . However it will be perfect for group round about 20 pax. The scones were five star 👍🏻🌟would definitely recommend this space for group celebration. Shre May the owner is a lovely lady who was able to coordinate us all and facilitate the event since the beginning . Kudos to Krates!

I have been to Krate Cafe a few times and I have also ordered their customised Christmas cookies & scones boxes. Their carrot cake, shortbread cookies and scones are really good.
Recently, I attended the immersive theatre show, Evenings at the Baba Nyonya Museum: The Case of the Missing Diamond. I was at the show where YB Khoo Poay Tiong got checked by the "police"! That's how up close and personal the audience get involved with the characters of the show. Wonderful performances from all of them. It was also a great opportunity to look at how a Baba Nyonya house would look like back in those days. Reminded me of my relatives' house many years ago.
Thank you Shyre May for coming up with such an idea of an immersive theatre show and sharing the Baba Nyonya culture to the young and old. We need more events like this in Melaka.
I highly recommend to attend their future events and do drop by their cafe too.

A really lovely find. The SCONES..... THE SCONES.... one of the best that I've tried. If you're looking for a pretentious cafe, then don't come, because this is such a lovely place. Coffee is good (can be better, but i'm just nitpicking, their coffee is good.) and I just love the overall experience I had there. ;)

Attended The Case of the Missing Diamond walk-through theatre show, was an amazing experience! Could see there’s a lot of thought being put into the production from the realistic acting to the intricate props and outfits. The Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum was an excellent setting for the production. The storyline itself pulled people into the story almost immediately and sustained interest and suspense throughout (bonus points for being super hard to guess who the suspect was 🤣). The fact that it was an interactive theatre experience (breaking the 4th wall) made the audience feel even more involved in the story. Well done and looking forward to more shows from Krate!

Good environment to chill and kreate 😉 amazing variety of drinks and pastry. If you have time, take a look at their ready-to-use art kits so you can make something fun while chilling.

Also, get to know the lady boss she’s inspiring but the real boss is the CFO 🐶

Love it, love it, love it!
This is what Melaka theatre scene needs! Something different, something fresh, something to keep our local arts alive!
Great cast and talented acting. Amazing venue. Very organized and orderly. Great service from the ticketing to the ushering and also following up wanting our feedbacks.
Appreciate the updates, suggestions on parking and what-to-expect so we can all plan well ahead.
A great experience, I believe, is everything from A to Z and I got just that ♥
