Best meal for breakfast. I order coffee latte and my bf order black coffee. Their traditional laksa is the best. Regret to oder just one, as we share it. Taste so yummy to start your day. We also try their french toast salted egg, ufo tart and crispy cream puff vanilla. All i can say thumb up for the food! Place you must visit when you come to sandakan. Reasonable price and you will never regret.

Wao....such a good place in sandakan town. Recommended fnb was Thai Milk tea and salted egg croissant. Even though waited for 25 mins @ Thai milk tea but it's worth. The taste is authentic. Nice ambience and washroom is clean

Had breakfast here. We ordered roti kahwin, salted egg french toast and mee Siam. Food was good. They have quite a selection of pastries including the famous Sandakan UFO tarts. Nice place to hangout with friends. Aesthetically pleasing interior and very clean.

Cozy place, friendly staff. Came around 10 am, too bad the portugese tart still baking. The ufo tart was delicious. The price also affordable.

A very nice kopitiam or cafe to hangout and visit, located in the old town of Sandakan.
The food and drinks are quite yummy, especially the UFO tart.
The place has a very nice vibe and environment, while enjoying your food, you can see the surrounding outside.
The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful as well.

Arrived at San Da Gen Kopitiam on Sunday morning around 10am and the cafe is 50% occupied perhaps due to rain.

Love the aesthetic of the cafe interior, it’s classic!

Ordered espresso ☕ for myself and a mini croissant 🥐 both are good

For espresso, as explained by the waitress they’re using a local blend of Sabah beans. Can taste hint of nutty sweetness, floral and chocolate.

Can find plenty of desserts in this cafe, it’s a sweet tooth galore.

Amazing cafe chill in the downtown and the drinks and laksa were great but a bit spicy, UFO tart was okay! I love the vibe and friendly staffs in the restaurant. Worth to come when you visit here:)

A lovely little gem in Sandakan. If you like Insta worthy, but not totally style over substance spots, this cafe is delightful!
Local business doing things differently with the focus on local produce.
We came for the sweet treats - the iconic UFO tart was pleasant and it overly sweet with a gooey meringue, a scrumptious Portuguese tart and the standout was the lemon meringue croissant!
The cold teh tarok was perfect for the 30C plus heat but the Hojicha latte was perfect for me, described accurately as milder than matcha.
The decor and aesthetics beautifully matched the whole experience.

Lovely restaurant near the sea, super, super friendly staff. They go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. Good coffee, food and some desserts. Also good AC, nice temperature, not too cold.

Had a biiiig breakfast here and absolutely loved the food. In order of consumption:

The hoisin duck sandwich - served on fluffy, pretty sweet white bread - was delicious and also contained quite a bit of fried egg.

The salted egg French toast - basically a French toast with a runny, salted egg yolk in the middle - was super nice, too.

For those more in the mood for something Asian, the traditional Laksa could be a good option. It was served piping hot, pretty spicy and generously proportioned.

All in all, we had a wonderful (albeit oversized) breakfast here!

What a wonderful cafe in Sandakan! We ordered extensively because we wanted to try so many dishes (that were too much in the end, but we were happy to try them).

We had a traditional Laksa (spicy noodle soup, very coconut-creamy) that was divine: just the right amount of spicy 🌶 and filled with herbs, chicken, taugé, fish balls… just great!
My friend had the smoked duck hoisin sandwich that he very much loved.
We shared the Salted Egg French Toast that was creamy with the egg, lightly drizzled with honey and had a little cube of butter on top. Very nicely done, the salted egg was not overwhelming (as it sometimes can be in mochi).

We furthermore had 2 100plus drinks and a very well done lemon ice tea. Oh and we topped it off with a UFO. I thought this might be a heap of lemon curd with toasted egg white on top of a butter cookie. 2 guesses were right: the butter cookie and egg white, yet there was a normal eggy cream in the middle. Pretty nice, though I would loved a sour one :3

All in all: don’t miss this place when you are in Sandakan! It may be a bit more fancy, but you get quality dishes in big portions!

Loving the concept of Hong Kong coffee shop. Their cream puff are so good. Crisp outer shell but soft, creamy inside and also delicious. Recommended. Ordered their Portugese egg tart and UFO tart as well.

A kopitiam with "old time" feels. Staff are very friendly, attentive and well-known with their foods. Serve flavorful bakery and local cuisine. Do come early to get their UFO tarts.
