We went in sept and there were only 11 couple in the resort so it was perfect. Nice and quiet
Staff were amazing and attentive
Had a massage by Brenda. Literally the best massage I’ve had. Hit me in all the right spots

All the staff are so genuine and friendly

Lovely to go to a resort where everyone says hello
Lots of nature and wildlife
Would highly recommend. Resort if better than the photos

We came here for 3 days during a bachelorette trip and had a memorable 3 days in Bunga Raya Resort. We enjoyed the tranquility and the stunning immersive nature surrounding us. Be sure to take advantage of the calm waters in the morning for sports and snorkeling (we saw two types of Clown Fish!) as it gets cloudy and rough in the afternoon.
You will need to travel around by buggies as the villas are mostly situated in the higher grounds. The food is good and offers decent variety so we didn't have complaints for the 8 meals we had there.
Staff are really friendly but one thing to note is that there can be some miscommunications, as we experienced when booking the spa. Although we emailed back and forth to confirm for a spa for 4 people at the same time, we were told the night before that there are only 2 masseuses available so we had to change our plans last minute for this.
We loved the canopy tour but be aware that there are a lot of wild animals living around, including long tail macaques that come into our porch.
Overall, we felt well-taken care of during our stay and would recommend this experience to others. It is not the most luxurious experience but certainly a special memory.

This establishment is supported only by the chef in the restaurant closer to the pier and by a wonderful administrator named James DEAN. Thanks to these people, our last evening at the hotel was simply unforgettable! Thank you! Thanks to James DEAN, the atmosphere of every dinner was unforgettable! I also want to mention the good manager of this hotel, who pays attention to every little thing, so that the time of provenance becomes even better!

A delightful experience with exceptional hospitality at the Bungaraya resort! The expansive layout provides a sense of seclusion, creating an ambiance akin to a private island. The staff's friendliness and their efforts to go above and beyond contribute to a homely atmosphere. Overall, a genuine island paradise – kudos to the Bungaraya team! Cheers!

Beautiful location and resort! Great hospitality as well.

We came here last weekend for a one-night staycation (not long enough!!) and unfortunately it rained on the day we arrived. Although we weren't able to snorkel/kayak/swim as planned, we had a good time relaxing in the comfortable room (take note that there was no wifi in our room) and spending the afternoon at the restaurant (wifi available here). We managed to spot some hornbills and monitor lizards in the rain. Fortunately, the rain cleared up and there was a really nice sunset.

Food is of good quality though there is definitely room for improvement!

Certain areas of the resort can seem a bit old and run down. They are currently doing renovations on their other restaurant.

The best thing about this place is how clear the waters are. Would definitely come back to snorkel and kayak considering how close it is to the "mainland". I also loved spotting the different type of hibiscuses around the resort.

My wife and i stayed here for 5 nights in May,
We were greeted by Carl the manager who on arrival gave us a tour and continued to be attentive along with all the hard working staff throughout our stay.
(a big thank you from us both)
The whole place is stunning and peaceful with spacious luxurious rooms with all the needs and requirements for guests.
The food was delicious with plenty of choices on the menu’s.
We would highly recommend staying here.

What a paradise. This whole resort is perfect - lovely accommodation, the most fantastic food and great staff. Exceeded expectations in every sense.

Loads of water based activities for free. Breakfast included was 10/10 and all other meals were excellent - big shout out to the chefs.

Would highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed there in April for a short trip, fabulous plunge pool room and spacious ! Room amenities are tip top! My son don't want to get out from the bathtub and plunge pool ! We all had so much fun !

staff are very friendly and genuine, here you don't need to worry anything about service and food quality. Breakfast is amazing !

Had great dive nearby the island, evening time can take a lot of good photos , spotted hornbills and wildboar.

Best resort I've stayed for far. Better than any 5 star resorts in town. You get the real holiday .. quiet and relax vacation, great quality time with family!

Will definitely come back for more stay 😁

Had an excellent stay here - the staff were all immensely friendly and helpful, especially when we had to book activities on short notice, the food was varied and all tasty, and the resort is gorgeous. You really feel close to nature in your villa while still being close to all the activities. They work hard to keep their bay pristine and it shows - the water is clear and warm, and by the jetty you can snorkel and see all sorts of fish and coral. When we arrived it was unseasonably pouring with rain for two days, and amazingly it was still one of the most enjoyable trips we have had in a long time. I also liked that the resort catered both to couples and families - both were at the resort and the experience wasn’t affected for either. Lastly I would recommend a plunge pool villa - right on the beach and very spacious with excellent AC.

This is by far the best resort I've been to near Kota Kinabalu. Located at the northeast of the gaya island. This strategic location made it a quiet place and calm water. Which made it perfect for gateway with close ones. The room was very spacious. Service was superb. We were greeted upon arriving at the dock. Full baggage service and buggy transport to the villa. The environment was beautiful. We went on the canopy walk although I didn't enjoy that much because I was afraid of snake. Water sports were nice. I enjoyed the paddle board in the calm sea. Snorkeling was nice but the water clarity was not perfect further away from the shore. There was only one restaurant opened during our stay. The food was great. Their local fried rice is even better than those on the mainland. There was much more to explore and play so I would recommend at least 2 nights stay.

Staff are very polite and friendly. Buggy provided from inland transportation if you wanna relax ride to most of the location in the resort. Canopy and one of the restaurant were under maintenance during this visit. But the other restaurant open daily from 730am till 1000pm serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Water sport such as snorkeling, kayaking, standout paddle boarding and etc are available in the resort. Those who like photograph insect and snake at nightwalk will advise to bring their macro lens and flash. Hornbill and sunbird sighted during our two days stay here in the resort. The breakfast is complimentary for in house guest from 730am till 10am only. Average meal per order for lunch and dinner cost around RM35 to RM60.00.

We stayed at the resort for a couple of nights a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The resort was at a secluded location and not so big, so the place was very quiet and peaceful because there were nobody else other than the guests and hotel staff. The villa was very large, clean and comfortable, with a separate building for the living room. The boat ride was not bad, about 40 minutes on a larger boat because of heavy rain, but only 15 minutes on a speed boat on the return trip to shore.

I was “working from home” during the stay and nothing beats having an “office” in a hut next to the swimming with beautiful view of the ocean. Mobile phone reception was very good even though the location was remote.

A highly recommended place to stay if you want to relax and unwind.

Insanely beautiful hotel set in between beach and coral reefs and jungle. We stayed in a room with a plunge pool and had the best floating breakfast. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, they organised a complicated return off the island via a diving trip in a totally hassle-free way. We told them it was our honeymoon and we arrived to a beautifully decorated room.

I highly recommend booking your Borneo dive trips with Echo resorts. The whole experience was top notch with a skilled skipper, a helpful dive master, a highly experienced and passionate dive instructor. The equipments provided were in great condition and well maintained. They know all the best spots too.

Bunga Raya resort offers beautiful uninterrupted views of the ocean. During my visit, we also encountered amazing wild life (such as hornbills) which was such a treat.

I would not hesitate to recommend this professional family run business to my friends and family visiting Borneo.

The staff was tremendously friendly and helpful, the villas well built and overall a luxurious experience. Some small renovations are due, but overall a very pleasant stay.

The food, extensive wine cellor, the employees, the rooms, and the grounds are simply amazing .I've seen a review that says the place is falling apart. IT'S NOT!!! Well .... you might find a loose board on the boardwalk or one that needs to be replaced. Let them know, and it will be replaced the next day or sooner. If you've ever lived next to the ocean as I have my entire life, you would know that living near the ocean takes a tremendous toll on anything man made. You are in the jungle on the beach. There are monkeys, giant Asian water monitors, wild boar, birds and more birds, black tip reef sharks, sea turtles, and a polethara of reef fish. The big purple jellyfish are not a problem, It's the smaller box jellyfish and bits and pieces that get chewed up by boats and sea life eating them. Props to the manager karl who is very accommodating.

We loved the stay at this amazing property! I have stayed in quite a few premium luxury resorts but Bunga Raya felt a bit more special.
Tucked away in the exclusive Polish Bay area and led by the affable resort manager Laurent, the staff is friendly, forthcoming and accommodating.
The villa that we had was spacious with flattering views of the South China Sea. Bustling with natural life, the snorkeling and the diving are both excellent. I recommend Jen as a dive master if you are looking for diving.
The food is fabulous and they have a pretty impressive wine cellar with wines - both old world and new - from around the world for you to choose from. You can even arrange for a dinner in the wine cellar.
I highly recommend and we will be back soon.
