Beautiful temple 🛕 Definitely worth a visit!

The climb is easy and there is lots of refreshment at the top.

Would also recommend some of the vegetarian Indian restaurants opposite the temple if you’re looking for lunch 🥗

I visited it in July 2023. It was hot and hard to climb the stairs in a dress , longer than my knees ( no pants allowed), but it was worth it. Inside the cave the air was cool. I was surprised to see that the people lit candles and used incense during the religious ceremony ( as it's been done in the Orthodox Church).

It is one of the most popular Hindu shrine outside India. Combination of caves and cave temple in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. The limestone forming Batu caves is sad to be 400 million years old.
There are around 275 steps/stairs to reach in the caves. At the base of the hills there are two more cave temples.

It's one the must visit place. Place is full of pigeons and monkeys. Kids will enjoy a lot with pigeons. You feed them also.

Chargeable parking is available in the premises.

Entry charges for car is 2RM/entry, for Lorry/bus is 10RM.

Restaurant is available in the premises. You can have a food at reasonable price.

Overall it's a beauty of colours. Scenic and photogenic place.

Nice place to visit. Nothing much to do but to enjoy the view and the temple.

The stairs are really smelly of monkey waste.

It was not as hard as I expected and from the picture posted in Google.

You'll definitely need to bring extra clothes as you will sweat a lot because of the weather and taking the stairs. We arrived early in the morning.

Mens can wear shorts and go up. For the Ladies, the knees must not be showing. Bring something to cover up.

Beware of the monkeys, they are thieft and stealing foods and other items from people.

You can buy dove feeds for RM 5.00

Stunning view from the inside of the cave.

Mostly Indian foods on the restaurant. No fried chicken alone.

Bring your own water or you can also buy there, but no idea how much.

A lot of coconut for refreshment on the restaurant.

There is a beverage store at the end of the stairs above with souvenir items.

If you wish to enter the temple, remove your shoes.

Pay Toilet is available at the ground on the right side of the big statue for RM 0.50.

Merchandise are also available.

We took Grab for convenience.

A must experience. I was a bit concerned by the number of steps at first, but it was fairly easy going with loads of places to stop for a moment to recover. Very busy but just an amazing must do place to visit. Go all the way to the back (both caves with a second set of steps). Absorb in the whole amazing place. Lots of things to see in the vicinity, temples, resturants and shops.

Visitors get two types of attractions in one: the temples and the massive caves. The statue and the steps are impressive to see in person. The climb up is pretty long but not all that difficult. It would help to get here before 8 AM to avoid the heat as well as the crowds that start to build up around 9. Didn’t see any monkeys early in the morning.

Very nice place for sightseeing. Colorful temples and so many monkeys.

For parking, better to go inside and pay 2 RM. if you pay on the street, gate keeper? Or parking controller comes to you and ask 5 RM. then, you have to walk from outside of the temple… no value to park on the street unless inside parking gets full though there are so many space to park so that no need to worry about it

We took train to this place. Easy approachable by public transportation. You will meet a lot of monkeys 🙈. Make sure you don't leave any belongings and food behind. Remember to bring water.

An interesting place. You walk all the way up 275 stairs and you will see 2 temples into the cave. The view is also nice. There are many tourists, so arrive here early if you can. If you are a lady, don't wear any short, you will be asked to put on blanket around your waist before going up.

Well, wow. I went not knowing what to expect, did not think of Monkeys at all but I ended up with a monkey climbing on my shoulders and we went up the stairs together for a little bit. I would guess 5 min or so. Truly amazing experience I would highly recommend to others. Please know that they are wild and I did not see anyone else with a monkey on them, but when it happened I had to go with it. Just wow!

Location can be extremely busy in the early morning, unfortunately not very accomidating for disabled people.
Live monkeys around the area so be sure not to have food on you. The stairs are in need of painting however the new building is underway. Overall a tourist hotspot and the inside of the caves are well worth walking through. Drinks are sold at the top and bottom of the stairs

This is a must visit place when in Kuala Lumpur!

The caves are kinda cool, and the way up is challenging especially in a heat.

We went on Sunday, it was crowded, but not terribly. Enough room for everyone.

I must say I had so much fun with monkeys!

You can purchase bananas and feed them. Baby monkeys are friendly and some of them let you touch themselves, some even jumped on my shoulder and sat there for a few minutes.

Older monkeys are aggressive and can bite. Be careful.

This was one of the best days in my life.

Also there is a dress code for women, shoulder and knees have to be covered.

Batu Caves is a mesmerizing gem that seamlessly blends natural wonders with cultural richness. The towering limestone caves provide a majestic setting for the vibrant Hindu temples, creating a visual spectacle that's both awe-inspiring and spiritually significant. The climb up the stairs, though challenging, rewards visitors with panoramic views and a sense of achievement. The intricate details of the shrines inside the caves offer a glimpse into Malaysia's diverse religious heritage. While crowds can be a drawback, the overall experience is unforgettable, making Batu Caves a must-visit destination for those seeking a harmonious blend of nature and culture.

Truly, the beauty of colours. Batu Caves is a place to visit and experience what the Hindi temples are.

A huge bronze statue greets you at the entrance. The number of stairs to the upper part is quite steep but not scary to climb. It’s great to climb up there to witness the remarkable cave sites.

Usually, there are places one cannot enter with their footwear. The Hindus worship at some locations, wash themselves before entering, and ladies don’t wear shorts or skinny pants.

Another isolated area with a large fish ponds, birds, and a water fall. Those are quite picturesque. It costs MYR 5 to enter there.

You can also pay to take pics with parrots 🦜 and snakes🐍😱.

Really interesting Indian temples. It's not just a touristy place, but an actual place of worship with visiting devotees. Don't miss climbing up the stairs to the top inside the caves (wear comfortable shoes).

Very interesting place. I recommend to walk all those 266 stairs and there you will see 2 temples into the cave. The view is also adorable. You will meet a lot of monkeys. 🙈 They are very friendly and will look for some food.

Amazing place. Loved the view looking up at the multicoloured steps.. you can feel it as you walk up the steps but there is opportunity to rest but in 35 degree heat you can feel the climb.. lots of stalls about selling food and drink. I tried the a fresh coconut juice there bit disappointed as not sure how fresh the coconut was! The views inside the cave are well worth the climb . the monkeys behaved themselves on my visit but be cautious of them. I put in contact lenses rather then risking one stealing my glasses

I went over weekday so not crowded, if you are more than 2 better go by grab and public trains are really slow, grab costs around 14 ringitt. Wont take much time to reach from center.

First off, a word of caution on the monkeys. Yes they seem cute and tame but not all. I saw on man taking a photo get his forearm bit while taking a photo of his friend.. without provocation, by an aggressive alpha male monkey. So be careful! The people in the temples directed the man to get medical attention.

Otherwise, most things are as you can read in the reviews and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Evening walk. Not too much people and not too hot. Nice view. But the drink around here was expensive around RM30 for the big one. Have too many god here. Easy to travel here with the train from the town.

A great place to visit in KL.

The statue is great and iconic for photo, also the stairs.
Beware that the stairs are longer than it seems. But dont worry to take a rest while you are walking upstairs or downstairs in the middle. Inside the cave is an amazing experience although we have to face many more stairs.
There is a store that sell cold drinks upstairs inside the cave, so no need worry about drink. There are several temple inside the cave that is good to take pictures. The cave itself has a nice lighting and get sunshines from several holes up in the cave.
Inside the cave is already very well maintained. No need to worry of slippery or hard terrain walking.
