Hiking Gunung Datuk is an enjoyable experience. No doubt you must be fit for constantly uphill for almost 3 km. Once you reach the peak, you will be astonished with the amazing 360 view from the top of the rock.

Just pay RM5 entrance fees and guide (MGP) is not mandatory required.

This is my second time here. Weekdays quite relax and ample of parking space but weekend will be crowded with hikers.

Be there and start your hike by 4am..

3km elevation from ground

If you’re fit, you’ll get up there within 2 hours.

It gets tooooooo crowded and super cold (15’Degree) at the peak.

The shows up and sun rises fast from 730am till 750am then aftr it gets bright and hotter.

Torch light or head lamp is a must.. Becareful with your steps🫶🏻😃

A challenging hike on the descend but very fun!!! Will have you clambering on all fours as you navigate the terrain 🤪 Started the hike in the dark and reached the summit at sunrise, super rewarding views. Shower at the end is shiok.

Love the hike and its challenges. The trails to the Gunung Datuk peak are very unique - lots of big rocks, tree roots and dense vegetation. Take around 3 to 4hours for a round-trip with distance of 4.6km (from foothill to peak)

I must say this is quite a challenging hike and do ensure your safety at all time due to terrains conditions. Do be extra cautious if you go a rainy day.

The star of the hike must be is getting the chance to climb up the giant granite boulders with the mounted steel ladders. At the peak you will be rewarded with expansive 360 view of the surrounding virgin forest areas and cooling air.

Do take there is park entrance fees you need to pay RM5 (RM20 for foreigners) which you can pay at site or through online services.

All the best and o enjoy your hike.

At only 884 m, the climb on Gunong Datuk is surprisingly very steep and tough. It takes two hours for the climb and another hour for descent. The reward is good, nice view of the area at the top.

Great hike but definitely challenging. Well marked with ropes to help with verticals. Make sure to go until the top and it's really worthy to see a great view. Make sure bring enough water to stay hydrated.

Great hiking. Around 3.4km. Quite a steep hike with rocks and roots interwoven. As you approach the entrance, there is a limited parking space. You have to go down the rainbow steps to the registration counter. Pay only RM5 per person and get your strap. After the counter your hike starts and it goes all the way up. Half way there are some chaps selling beverages. Only for the weekend. At the peak, you would need to climb the ladder to the top of the rock. The view is breathtaking. The journey back is also difficult at the patch where there are rocks. Wonderful experience. At the base, there are toilet and bathroom available. The water is refreshing. Height of this Mount is around 2900 ft..

A challenging trail that's all uphill. Registration and entrance fee of RM5 is collected at the start of the climb. Takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit depending on your fitness level. Gloves or hiking sticks are helpful but not essential. Wear suitable shoes as there's many rocky and muddy sections.
On a rainy and foggy day the famous views at the top are hidden but lends to a cool and mysterious atmosphere.
Very decent toilet and shower facilities (private cubicles and hooks) at the base and a shop that sells snacks, drinks and desserts.

There's a registration fee (RM 20 for foreigners) but the view and hiking experience is worth the price. Met amazing people along the way and overall had a great time. There's also a friendly squirrel roaming around the top!

Both climb and descent can be a bit steep and slippery if it has been a rainy week, so be careful on your way.

The place is well maintain by the forestry and you are required to pay RM5 at the counter. Parking is limited at the main area however there are open fields which you can park with a short walk away. You may easily find parking spots if you arrive around 11am-12pm on a weekend.

This mountain is tough on the knee, I underestimated it a little especially the beginning part. It took me a little less than 2.5hrs one way. It is pretty steep so expect the same coming down as well with the rocky path. The view at the top is priceless. No regrets!

Took us less than 2hrs to reach the peak including multiple stops. Spent an hour+ on peak to enjoy the scenery (clear sky and misty), and another 1 hr and 30 mins to descend, average 4hrs per visit. Drink approximately 1.5L of water. To beginner/amateur, if you were slow, please give way for people to overtake, you’ll eventually reach the peak and enjoy the scenery with the efforts!

Started the hike at 5am on a Sat morning and reached the peak at 7.30am. I found the terrain challenging, it’s a very Rocky Mountain so it’s like rock climbing and there’s no proper steps so you’re truly climbing a natural route. The key is to pace yourself and your heart rate, but it’s hard when you’re constantly pushing yourself up. So I’d recommend doing some cardio training (running) and squats before going on this hike. Do bring along gloves so you can use your hands to pull yourself up with the ropes or slide down when heading back down. I found climbing up in the dark was better bc you can’t see how steep and unending the path is and get demoralised haha. Also It gets more crowded once the sun is up so I’d recommend going as early as I did and use headlamp. Just keep going and take breaks when necessary. I drank 2 bottles of water on the way up and 2 on the way down. When going down it is hard on the knees so again do squats to train beforehand. Although I struggled climbing up, all of it felt so worth it once I reached the summit bc the view was gorgeous. It was nice and cooling too and I felt so accomplished! I’d recommend doing this hike but only for at least moderately fit ppl and if you’ve trained enough. At the entrance there’s decent toilet and shower facilities too so bring soap and shampoo to clean up afterwards.

This place suitable for activities such as motivational and spirit building camps. many facilities are available such as Camping Site, Open Stage/Hall, Car Parking, Toilet, Surau, office, restaurant and rest hut. Climbing to Gunung Datuk takes approximately 2 hours to 3 hours with a rather steep and challenging 2 KM track. There are several Check Points along the climb before we can enjoy the beauty of the view at the top.

My first time coming here. Started hiking at 5:30 am, reached the first checkpoint just in time for Subuh prayer. Do note that you can also pray at the peak. Continue my journey and reach the rock peak at 7:30 am. It is very very challenging. Please train before you come. It is uphill all the way. Only tiny bit of walking, the rest is hike. The parking area is already full at 5 am. No charge for parking but you’ll have to pay RM5 for permit at the entrance. If you want to hike before 7 am, it’ll be at your own risk. The rock peak accommodates at most 20 people so it’s best to wait for your turn as it is quite steep and slippery.

Still open on November.
Good place to hike, the way was keep going up.
Walk slow can be reach to top, just be careful on the bigger rock, might slippery. Wear proper shoe. Some way was wet and the soil might be sticky and slipper.

Overall is great. In middle/top, there have drink seller.

The ticket to go in was rm5 for Malaysian.

Great hiking site for beginner/amateurs. Uphill takes awhile (2hr with minimal rest) as the track is mostly climbing onto tree roots and rock. View at the top is definitely worth it!
