Single lane, for gate, but not busy at all, quick entry and leave. Small but convenient. Today there’s talented singer performed at the airport. He can sing a lot of popular songs.

I recently had the opportunity to travel through Tawau Airport during my visit to Sabah, and I'd like to share my impressions. Here's why Tawau Airport deserves recognition:

1. Convenient Location: Situated 28 km northeast of Tawau, this airport serves as a vital link for travelers exploring the eastern part of Sabah. Whether you're heading to the diving havens of Sipadan, Mabul, or Kapalai, Tawau Airport is your starting point.

2. Immigration Counters: Tawau Airport is one of the two airports in Sabah with immigration counters for international flights. The other is Kota Kinabalu International Airport. This makes it a crucial hub for both domestic and international travelers.

3. Recent Improvements: Over the years, Tawau Airport has seen enhancements. Notably, there's a new toilet facility in both the departure and arrival areas. Additionally, AirAsia passengers benefit from a dedicated gate. More shops have sprung up, adding convenience to your journey.

4. Flight Frequency: While the airport handles a moderate number of flights, the immigration queue for departing passengers can be a bit lengthy during peak hours. However, considering the limited flight schedule, it's manageable.

5. Scenic Approach: As you approach Tawau Airport, you'll catch glimpses of the lush greenery and coastal beauty of Sabah. The landing itself is an experience worth cherishing.

If you're flying through Tawau airport, be aware that it's a small airport with limited amenities. While it's convenient for those who want to avoid the crowds and chaos of larger airports, it's important to plan accordingly if you have luggage.

The airport doesn't have a lot of space for baggage handling, so it's recommended that you arrive early to allow extra time for check-in and security screening. This is especially important if you're traveling with larger or heavier bags.

Small but very busy and well organised. What I like most was both arrival and departure at same level floor but divided to 2 different area. So it's easy for you to find which way to go out and to check in. Amazing staff with super warmed hospitality services oriented. They do extra to served their customers and passengers. Its practical and functional where you may find its easy to get all info even for the first time travel here.

This is small airport but clear. Staff support too much. The line at immigration is long.

A small airport, I visited Semporna need to arrive to TAWAU airport and took a taxi :) ☺

Small and efficient airport

First time to Tawau Airport. 🤩
I feel that 80% of the tourists here are traveling to Semporna 🏝

But so small and not many food stalls to choose, pls rent out to fast food like kfc or mcD, marry brown kha.

Good service n environment n clean

Small, old airport, immigration officer was very fast and efficient.

Tawau Airport is the second largest airport in sabah. 🛫🛫🛫
The facilities around is quite large.🏢🛫
Not gonna lie this airport still need some improvement in the future. 🔨⚙⚙

Small airport but seemed surprisingly well run with friendly, helpful staff, we had a better, smoother experiance here then in Kota Kinabalu partly due to the quietness. A small range of cafes to the right of the small arrival desk, only two security lines. No drinking water fountain that we could find. Chaos on pick up/drop off with really awkward height drop curbs for bags and wheelchairs.

Special thanks to the staff that helped us with special assistance. Better then most airports.

When u arrived at tawau airport please ask people around where is " nasi payau " trust me u never forget the taste 👍

Small airport but fairly good experience. You'll have to go through immigration even for domestic flights. A grab (local online taxi app) will be your best option at getting to your next destination.

Nice airport... But few improvement still can be made... During peak season with so many flight just tu go departure hall gonna be too crowded... Make sure u go early for your own convenience
