A great little restaurant in the heart of Queretaro….Comida Casera…HomeCooked Food. Everything was wonderful here. From the chicken soup, enchiladas, torta de pollo, and the tamales. They evn their own cappuccino espresso machine from the 1950’s. Great cafe con leche and cappuccino. A definite gem in this historic city.

Authentic Mexican food. Very popular place still even though it's been in business for 8 decades. We waited for good 20 mins to get a table for 7 but it's worth it. Food is excellent and very reasonable priced. Friendly and helpful staff. If you like sweet, they have plenty for you too.

From the moment I stepped into La Mariposa, it was an amazing experience. The staff greeted me with their characteristic warmth and friendliness, immediately making me feel at home. The ambiance of the place is clean, well-organized, and inviting.
I decided to order molletes and enchiladas, classic choices that I've always loved. The molletes were perfectly toasted, with just the right amount of beans and cheese. The enchiladas, on the other hand, were a revelation. The sauce was rich and flavorful,
La Mariposa hasn't just maintained its standard; it's a place where every visit feels like a special occasion. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, delicious, and heartwarming breakfast or lunch experience.

Comida casera. Home cooking like my wife's grandmother use to make for me. Although not flashy, the molletes (toasted rolls with beans and melted cheese and green salsa on the side) are my favorites. The cafe con leche is good...the waitress will ask you how much coffee to add to the glass before she pours the hot milk. The milkshakes are fabulosos!

Absolutely amazing. Great tasty authetic mexican food. Pastries look delicious. Very crowded but queue goes fast.

Enchiladas are the best plate for me. The Monticado ice cream is the best ,one scoop with the fruit pieces is addictive.

This is a very old famous amongst the people in Queretaro. Super clean, very truth to pure whole milk, cheese, traditions. Mostly sweets and basic mexican food. Great pozole! Great service and kept as in the 1940's

This amazing restaurant and ice cream place was amazing. I went there with my family and friends and everyone loved it. I really enjoyed the service that came quickly and the vanilla ice cream was amazing. I wish I could go more often but I was on vacation. 5/5 would go again. Comfortable chairs in a very casual and vintage atmosphere. High ceilings make it feel cool and quiet. The clients are older and everyone talks in hushed tones. Coffee is strong and delicious. Plates are just the right size. Fresh bread with breakfast is hot and crusty; right from the ovens. This is one of my favorite spots that take you back to another time.

Wait staff is very professional. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. We've eaten breakfast and dinner. And we've made several stops there for dessert. Don't miss it. Recommended to us by a local.

One of the best and most traditional places in Querétaro. If you are downtown Queretaro, you must stop for a traditional milkshake and some pineapple tart. Just be patient, the place is usually crowded - a sign that the place is awesome.

Imagine you walk around Querétaro city in 1940 and you want to find a restaurant to have your favorite meal, coffee and a dessert. Well, in 2021 you can find this in La Mariposa. You can continue receiving the "paper placemat" with the map of Querétaro City (in blue or red, it depends on your lucky day ;). You can order traditional food, I recommend you "Enchiladas Queretanas or Enchiladas rojas (stuffed with chicken or cheese), Tacos Surtidos (Assorted deep fried tacos) to try the variety of beans, potatoes or cheese. For desserts, they have many options, but I highly recommend you the cheesecake and the apple filled empanadas (It is like an apple pie flavor in a single portion). If you want you can order dried-sweetened fruit, cookies, pies (remember the cheesecake ;)). The place keeps the same distribution since years ago and some of the staff has been here for more than 30 years. This place will melt in love your heart and your stomach. Highly recommended, but be prepared for a trip back in time. ;) (By the way, did I recommend you the Cheesecake?). TKS

The Best Piñon and Almond Jaboncillo! The food is also fantastic. Excellent service. The place open in 1940
