Ocean Oasis Hotel

Everything about our trip lived up to the Ocean Oasis name. Obviously the miles of white sandy beaches and ocean were beautiful but were really downplayed by the beauty of the Ocean Oasis Hotel property itself. The rooms were beautifully appointed and had comfy beds and great showers. Every meal was fantastic! The grounds were absolutely beautiful and serene with palm trees, native plants, beautiful birds at the bird bath and the resident geckos hanging out on the majestic Gecko Rock. All of this was capped off with my favorite spot in the palapa over looking the yard, ocean and pool. The pool is absolutely incredible. Whether using it in the day in the beautiful sun or at night with the endless stars. The owners are the nicest, most energetic hosts you will ever meet and were really attentive to every detail. I recommend the Ocean Oasis Hotel to all of my friends and family!

I had an amazing experience at Ocean Oasis Hotel, just before the end of the year and into the new one. The resort is located in a very peaceful and private environment, the ocean waves are in the background at all times, creating a true feeling of relaxation! I loved the Nature surrounding the resort, everything is lash green, flowers paradise, geckos and lizards smiling around and the resort is very clean and well organized. Love, love the gardening within and surrounding the resort! The casitas are very comfortable, clean and spacious and so are all the amenities and the pool! The food is the ultimate, fresh very day, with many varieties, cooked and served with love! Everyone working and hosting the resort are amazing people, friendly, caring and there to help you with anything, truly amazing people!!! Finally the beach, just 2 minutes down the path, has a unique rock formation in certain areas, where pools are formed and you can lay in them, while admiring the rest of the beach and the ocean in action! The gold sandy beaches connects with other resorts and restaurants as walking along the coast line, miles of walking and unlimited sunshine! I will return to this beautiful place soon, it was an amazing experience and a wonderful place to stay. Thanks to everyone at the resort for hosting me and for an unforgettable experience, it truly was!

Well had a great stay at this boutique resort. It's not like some major resort in Cancun, this is rural Mexico. The beach is a quick 5 min or less walk, most times you won't see anyone else down there. Taxi rides are about 600-700 pesos from Puerto Escondido or there are companies in town to rent a car from. There is a beach further down south from here to see sea turtles nesting, it's a protected area, there is a small fee to get to the beach.

The rooms nice and have what you need, they do have an air conditioner in them.

Overall this was a great place to stay at.

This is our third time at Gecko Rock, if that tells you anything! Each visit is just as amazing as the first time. This resort is a perfect hidden gem on the Oaxacan coast. The resort is very private, a maximum of 4 couples at a time. Great for those that enjoy peace and quiet on vacation, but still have the option to socialize. The secluded beach is just a few hundred feet down the path. There is a pool, an outdoor palapa, hammocks, games, and more for those that just want to relax on the resort. For adventure, you can walk about 20 minutes down the beach and eat fresh fish at Aqua Blanca, a small fishing village, or travel by taxi into the much bigger Puerto Escondido for dolphin boat tours, massages, shopping, surfing, fishing, or really anything you want to do. I can't recommend Gecko Rock enough for those looking for a great vacation.

We had the most magical 3 days spent here at Gecko rock- Mike and Eileen went out of their way to make us feel right at home, nothing was ever to much trouble😊 Food and cocktails were absolutely amazing. Just what we needed after a turbulent few years.
We could not recommend highly enough. If you want pure paradise, then this is the place for you!

Outstanding spot for our 19th anniversary. Hosts are incredible and find ways to make your week perfect. The natural beauty of this beach is unmatched and untainted by development. The resort is super relaxing and we loved how the food was an incredible surprise each day and super high quality. My tip would be to do this place with another couple you enjoy travelling with. Highly recommend Zicatela beach in town. Thanks Gecko Rock!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Gecko Rock for four nights, as part of a two week trip around Mexico. The pool area and gardens are beautiful, and only a two minute walk from the most beautiful (and deserted) beach we have ever seen. Rooms are spacious and air conditioned, and each has a private rooftop terrace

Mike and Aileen were amazing hosts, who helped us with our transport and with a day of activities in Puerto Escondido.

One of the highlights of our stay was the amazing food prepared by Aileen. We loved the fact that at Gecko Rock meals are included in your stay, so you don't have the concerns of other resorts about expensive extras. Aileen's cooking is unbelievably good - we were ever more excited about every meal! Drinks are also extremely reasonable, and incredibly well-made.

We can't recommend Gecko Rock enough. Hopefully we will be back one day!

My husband and I spent the first portion of our honeymoon at Gecko Rock Resort in late October 2018. We both loved it. Mike and Aileen have done a wonderful job with this place. It's beautiful, relaxing and the food was AMAZING. The ride out there was quite bumpy and slightly long (due to having to drive so slowly) at that time of year but so worth it. I did not meet Aileen personally but Mike was very friendly and very helpful. The questionnaire that they sent us in advance asking about food preferences was very nice. The ocean being so close by was awesome- we took a walk down the beach to Agua Blanca as Mike suggested and had a delicious seafood lunch. Mike helped us organize a couple of other excursions as well which was so wonderful and helpful. We absolutely recommend this place and would definitely look into staying there again if we are ever in that area of Mexico again.

Gecko Rock is a boutique resort off the beaten path in a location perfect for unwinding. Meals are home cooked and customized to each guest (it is not a public restaurant). Every meal we had was amazing and the perfect flavors for us. Our room was tastefully decorated and the beach is a one-minute walk away. You can even walk along the beach to the next town over (Agua Blanca) and enjoy some beachfront restaurants. We took cabs to visit Puerto Escondido a couple of times - the owners will have recommendations of where in town to visit and will help make arrangements. Tip: If you fly into HUX airport, be aware that the route is very curvy and may induce motion sickness for those who are sensitive.

Gecko Rock is the honeymoon destination that's ideal for some relaxation and to just curl up with a book in your rooftop hammock or next to the pool. Or for a nice walk along the empty beach at sunrise.

The owner Mike is super friendly and goes out of his way to make sure your stay is great. His wife Aileen cooks the food herself and makes it to your preferences. Each meal she prepares reflects all the different cuisines she's gathered among her many travels. It's a very personalized stay since you aren't just another person staying at a big resort and they do all the work themselves.

Our third time at Gecko Rock, and it's better than ever. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and wonderful, gracious hosts. Absolutely recommended.

Food was incredible, beach was beautiful and private. Area was perfectly safe, beds were nice and firm. Owner was personable. Not a bad thing to say about this place.

This is our second day here of our week long trip, the food has been amazing, the weather perfect, the beach beautifully secluded (not suitable for swimming due to strong waves), and the pool my favorite place!!

If you are looking at this place, then it is the place for you. Off the beaten path, and all the more relaxing for it. Mike and Aileen made our stay so special. Food is beyond amazing. Could not recommend highly enough.
