A magical and genuine experience. Come here! We were shown around by Isaiah, the son of Manuel Jimenez. He couldn’t have been more proud or overjoyed to share his fathers legacy. The workshop, small museum, and showroom are surrounded by a beautiful garden. Amazing craftsmanship and kind people.

Ran by the artist's son, this museum is as welcoming as can be. The story of how carved fantastic animals came to be is really fascinating and you can see some of the very first ones, made in the 50's!

Awesome little museum, It's interesting and the owners really seem nice. Also the art of Jimenez and sons is really beautiful ,you can see the beginning of the sculptures as well as the finished products. The visit is quick and I believe one can buy the sculptures there as well.

It is a really nice place to learn about the art of the Alebrijes, prices are high but the quality is better than anywhere else. Look at the photos, it's awesome

Small and humble museum from renowed sculptor Manuel Jimenez. His family still lives here and tell their history and how he cane to become such an accomplished artist.

Wonderful place to view, learn and buy. Had an extensive explanation by Isaiah of the history and current practices. Items for sale are priced reasonably Highly recommend.

Best wood carving shop to experience. Manuel Jimenez was the first wood carving artist from Oaxaca. You get to know Isaias Jimenez (Manuel's dad) and the other family members that are the artists. Isaias welcomed us and gave us a free tour. Their wood carvings are exquisite and not expensive (compared to other places that dont have their history in wood carving). Best place to visit for "alebrijes" (they are really called wood carving figures). You will not regret visiting the first wood carving shop that exploded and gave work to several Oaxcan towns and families. Their history is well documented. They have all the facts.

Great museum of the creator of alebrijes.
Although that the family didn't know English we could communicate and even learn a few things about him.
Also the exhibits are for sale if you want to make a purchase.

Lovely home with a welcoming family that showed us through their museum and gallery despite the language barrier. The art is amazing, the carvings themselves are beautiful and then the paintwork elevates it again.

The first master alebrije creators home is a must see for the collector of this art. Many pieces to be had by his descendants. Great thing to do when visiting Arrazola.

This is where Abrujiles artistic carving style originated in 1929, and Manuel Jiminez's youngest son is still there, making beautifully painted carvings along with several other artists there. They were very accommodating, despite the fact that we interrupted their lunch.

Very nice people run this place. I visited over Dia de Los Muertos and I sat down at a table, next thing I knew I had pollo con mole negro and mezcal in front of me, and they wouldn't take any cash.
